A Writer's Spell

Scribble, scribble toil n' trouble;
Brain burns and ideas bubble.
Hatching plot, twisting tale
Hidden secrets to unveil.

Set the scene, lots at stake
Keep the reader wide awake
Strike a chord, hit a nerve
Pull them in, with writer's verve
Tell them this, hint at that
Tasty morsels,  juicy scraps
Gory bits with lots of blood
First a trickle then a flood.
Conjure up a violent scene
Nightmare vision, awful dream.

Pull the hero limb from limb
Make a messy end of him
Nothing left but battered corpse
Then the story really warps
And ripping out the hero's tongue
We bury it in witches' dung.
Set the scene for blood and gore
Leave them thinking there'll be more.

Now the story's set in motion
A heady brew, a powerful potion.
My spell is done I quietly gloat
You're in my grip, you have to vote.
