The Great Plague was an epidemic that spread in England between 1665 and 1666. It led to the deaths of between 75,000 and 100,000 people, which was more than a fifth of the entire population of London at the time.
Ring a ring of roses
Pus beneath your armpits
The stench of death is in the air
We all fall down.Ring a ring of roses
A posy for your noses
Filthy rat infested streets
We all fall down.Ring a ring of roses
Close the city gates up
Keep the poor within its walls
They all fall down.Ring a ring of roses
Seems your family caught it
Paint a cross upon your door
You can't get out.Pull a chain across the door
Send out for the doctor
Maybe there's a 'nurse' or two
Come to steal your chattels.Bury you in the deepest ditch
Out the city's boundaries
Plague will be the death of us
We all fall down.
