Everybody was sitting at a table, eating their breakfast and I was contemplating whether or not to confront Gio about locking me in the closet. I decided not to, I didn't want to draw attention to myself if someone passed by. Because if I did, Gio would barely come out alive.
Headmaster Xander stood up and everyone stopped talking.
"I would like to announce that there will be a masquerade ball to say 'good luck' for the teams that will be participating in the competition. It will be for 5th years and up. And I would also like to announce that there will be a guest professor after the competition. It will be Professor Longbottom, I'm sure you all know who that is. If you do not, he was a very important person in the Battle of Hogwarts. That is all, continue eating." He said, going back to his seat. Everyone started to whisper, which I assumed that they were talking about professor Longbottom.
"What will he be teaching?" Mack asked.
"Herbology" Lance replied.
"Lance, how do you even have all the answers to the questions we ask?" Isabelle asked her twin brother.
"I-" Lance started but was interrupted by everyone scrambling to get out of their seats to start their classes.
"Time to go!!" Isabelle said excitingly. We had potions next, it's my least favorite subject. I always gets confused when I read the instructions. When we got up from our seats, Mack and Lance bumped into each other and dropped all of their books on the floor, mixing up their books.
"Uh, sorry," Mack scrambled her words, trying to pick up her books.
"It's fine. Uh, here's your book." He said handing over her diary. She quickly grabbed it and stuffed it into her bag.
After potions, we had a free hour and we decided to practice in our dome. While we were walking to it, Gio was coming up to me and Keith put his arm in front of me protectively,
"Hi," he said awkwardly, "I just wanna say, sorry about before,"
"It's fine. Forgive and forget right?" I tried to lighten up the mood since everyone was staring at him and keeping quiet. Keith was puffing his chest and clenching his fists so tight that his skin turned white.
"Leave," Keith said in a tone that I never heard before. Gio nodded and left without saying another word.
"So. We practicing?" Isabelle asked.
"Yeah. Let's go," Keith said in the same tone, still looking at Gio walk towards the castle.
When we were almost there, we saw professor Klausing and my brother talking to each other. They looked like they were in a deep conversation, and we decided not to bother them. Austin looked at our group and winked at me when professor Klausing was getting her animal in the cage. I smiled back and continued walking to the dome. There was a huge gust of wind with dark clouds surrounding the dome. We just thought it was getting dark. We started practicing jinxes first then summoning charms. The wind was beginning to pick up, some branches of the dome fell and the brownish-golden leaves were swirling around us.
"We have to go inside!" Mack said loudly.
"It will probably last for a couple of minutes!" Lance shouted.
Isabelle was trying to get her strawberry blonde hair out of her face. I was panicking and Keith was trying to calm me down. Austin came into the dome with professor Klausing.
"WE HAVE TO GET INSIDE!" Austin shouted. The winds started getting stronger, rain started pouring, we heard thunder, lightning struck the dome. We heard branches braking, everybody was running out of the dome, one by one. I was about to get out, but it was too late. The dome that was once standing, was now crumbling down.
I tripped on a piece of branch that landed in front of me. A trunk of a tree fell on my leg and I was stuck. Keith looked back and saw me laying on the floor, screaming in pain. He rushed to me, trying to lift the thing that was giving me excruciating pain.
"LANCE!" He yelled. Lance came running, helping Keith lift the tree. It was slowly lifting up from my leg.
"GO!" Keith told me. I wiggled out of the branch and tried to stand up. Keith and Lance dropped the tree and Keith picked me up bridal style, because he could see I couldn't walk and barely stand up. We ran into the castle and closed the doors.
"You alright?" Keith asked helping me to stand, wrapping my arm around his neck. We both looked at my leg and blood was gushing out.
"We have to find Austin!" Lance said, running to find him. Austin and Klausing were the first ones to reach the castle.
He came back a minute after, Austin following him.
"Ava!" Austin said running to me. He got out his wand and said a few spells to mend it. When he was finished, my leg wasn't bleeding anymore.
"It will hurt a bit for a couple of days. Try and get some rest. I'll tell the teachers you won't be in class for the next couple of days." Austin explained, "Keith, can you get her to her room please?"
"Sure! No problem." He smiled, walking up the stairs with me limping.
When we got to my room, Mack and Isabelle caught up with us and helped me into my bed.
"What exactly happened?" Mack asked looking at my leg that was on top of one of my pillows.
"A tree fell on her leg. Lance and I lifted it up for her to get out of it." He said with a hint of pride in his voice that he was the one to save me, with help from Lance, from the tree. Cocky boy.
"I have to be in bed for a couple of days" I explained to my best friends.
"Lucky!" Isabelle said.
"Well, I'm gonna go. Going to catch up with Lance. Feel better Ava," Keith said winking at me.
"Thanks," I smiled.
"Anytime," he replied. He closed the door and the girls waited a couple of seconds to make sure he was out of my dorm room. Mack and Isabelle started talking and once, asking me about what happened.
