Ava's POV
We sent sparks into the air so a professor could come and apparate us back to Ilvermorny grounds. Once the sparks died, my brother appeared right in front of us.
"Austin! What's going on?" I asked as the team and I gathered closer to him.
"Take my arms," he told us as he held out his arms for us to apparate with him. We all touched his arm and apparated back to the castle.
"What's going on, Austin?" I asked again but he didn't answer. He was busy making sure everyone is apparated back.
"What do you think happened?" Seb asked the team. Harrison and I looked at each other. We had heard headmaster Xander talk to Gio's team, but we couldn't hear clearly.
"We have to find Gio," I whispered to Harrison. He nodded and we separated from the group. There were kids rushing all over the place, making us touch shoulders so we didn't lose each other.
Once we searched around, we finally found Gio and his team. They were talking to headmaster Xander and it looked like a deep conversation. We got close to them so we could try to hear what they were saying. We only could hear a couple of words because everyone was going crazy. Either complaining that the competition was canceled or that some of them had injuries.
"We'll ask later," Harrison said to me. I nodded and we ran to go find our friends. As we were running, someone bumped into me making me fall to the floor with a *thud*.
"Ouch," I said as I sat up, I felt something drip down my forehead. My wound reopened. Why wasn't it healing properly? Harrison disappears into the crowd. I stood up and decided to go to the infirmary so my brother can take a look at it.
-
"When did you get this?" Austin asked as he was examining the wound. I flinched as he touched it with a wet cloth, wiping the blood.
"During the competition. Keith was mesmerized by a type of mermaid and he threw rocks at me. I was expecting the wound to at least scar by now, but it keeps reopening," I said it like it was no big deal.
"Rocks?" He raised his eyebrows. He walked to his desk and went into his drawer. He took a large, thick book out. It was covered in dust. He coughed as he was flipping through the pages. He finally stopped and showed me a page filled with pictures of rocks. I gave him a weird look. Why was he showing me this?
"Which rock did Keith throw at you?" He asked me seriously. I looked at the moving pictures of rocks. They all looked the same. But there was one that looked familiar so it had to be that one.
"I think that one," I said as I pointed to the rock that was grey with black spots on it. He looked at the book again and his expression fell. His eyes looked scared and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Are you sure?" He asked quietly. I nodded. What was so special about a rock?
"I need to talk to Xander. Stay here and do not leave!" He said quickly as he was rushing out of the room. He was scaring me. What was so special about a rock?
I sat on the bed, waiting for Austin to come back. I was trying to remember what happened when Isabelle and I were getting hit with rocks. Nothing came to mind. It all happened so fast. While I was thinking, I didn't hear the footsteps that entered the room. I was looking into space when I heard the chair next to my bed screech. I quickly turned my head to see who it was and found Mack and Isabelle standing next to me.
"Austin told us you were in here! Why are you here? Are you okay?" Mack and Isabelle both asked, sounding as if they were told that I was dying.
I laughed, "I'm fine. Austin just needed to tell the headmaster something. He'll be right back," I said. Trying not to sound like I was freaking out inside and apparently succeeded because they stopped asking questions about me.
"Good," they said in unison, "Now, why do you think the competition was canceled? The headmaster would've never called it off if it wasn't huge," Mack said.
"Well, just before the competition got canceled," I started, they were both leaning in closer, "Harrison and I saw the headmaster talk with Gio and his team,"
They both gasped, "What did they say?" Isabelle asked.
I shrugged my shoulders, "I have no idea. We couldn't hear a thing. He did look concerned though. I'm sure the headmaster will tell us if it's important,"
Isabelle nodded her head, agreeing with me.
"Not good enough for me. I'm going to figure it out and you two are going to help me," Mack said, already deciding for the both of us.
"Fine, alright," I said, caving in. Right when I said this, Austin came running in with the headmaster and professor Trueheart.
"What's going on?" I asked seriously. Professor Trueheart was carrying potions, almost dropping one and laid them all on the bed.
"Sis, the rock that you have been hit with," Austin started, sounding like he was panicking, "Is a special rock. The essence of the rock is almost deadly,"
"What?" Isabelle, Mack, and I said together. Almost deadly? Am I dying? I would feel like I'm dying right now, right?
"The reason that your wound is not healing is because the essence of the rock sticks to any wound that you have and stops it from healing," Austin explained, "And if the essence of the rock is deep in your wound, it gets into your body,"
"And what happens if it's in my body?" I asked, freaking out. Professor Trueheart was organizing the potions she brought and the headmaster was helping Austin do something. I don't know what they were doing but they were trying to hurry.
Austin stopped for a moment, "the essence will build up and shut down your body,"
I was shocked. I felt tears form in my eyes, blurring my vision. I felt Mack and Isabelle grab both of my hands tightly. Trueheart handed me a potion that looked purple and lumpy.
"You have to take this dear. It will slowly kill the essence. It will take a while and it will definitely feel weird at first," Trueheart said. I took the potion and smelled it. Boy, was that a bad idea. I felt like throwing up, but I drank it anyways. I felt the potion burn my throat. It definitely felt weird. I somehow felt the potion glide through my body. My arms were tingling and my breath shortened. I felt dizzy, like the room was turning upside down, I felt sweat dripping down my forehead and I was trying to catch my breath. That feeling stopped and I blacked out.
~
I woke up to people whispering around me.
"Please wake up Ava," I heard a voice say.
"She's opening her eyes!" I heard another voice.
I opened my eyes and saw the team gathered around my bed.
"Gave us quite a scare," Harrison said in his British accent. He was right next to my bed, gripping my hand.
"Sorry," I said and they all laughed, except for Emily. She looked like she was forced to be here.
I looked around and saw that it was night time.
"What happened?" I asked, hoping to get an answer. They all looked at each other, as if they were deciding who should tell me.
"Well, we don't know. Trueheart told us you shouldn't have passed out like that. She's researching now," Seb said. I nodded. My stomach felt like it had a knot and someone was pulling it to make it tighter. I wasn't good in situations like these. I can't handle stress that well, even though everyone says I do and I seem so calm. But I just don't show that I'm freaking out.
\\ Well here's a short chap! Hope you enjoyed!
Do you guys think I should switch POV's sometimes? Or are you guys fine with only Ava's?
