I woke up with a massive headache, my head throbbing, hearing my blood pump. I lifted my hand to my head to rub it and try to calm it down. Then I realized I had gauze around my head because of the incident yesterday with the boys throwing rocks at Isabelle and I. I sat up, trying to open my eyes, putting my hair behind my ear, registering my surrounding. Everyone was already up, surrounded by the fire eating breakfast, or was it lunch? I wasn't sure. I guess Isabelle knew I was awake because she gave me a plate filled with eggs and bacon. I lifted the plate to my nose and smelled it, the bacon was still hot and fresh while the eggs were a bit cold, but I didn't mind. I stood up and sat with the rest of them and I ate the food on my plate with delight.

When we finished our breakfast, we gathered our things and went off to find Mack. She couldn't have been far. The team must've gotten tired and rested like we did. Who were they? Did I know them? I snapped out of my thoughts when Keith asked if my head was ok,

"Yes, it's fine. Just hurts a little." I smiled weakly. Trying to act stronger then I really was. It hurt like hell. But I couldn't say that, then they would think I needed a break when we had to find Mack.

Keith nodded and walked ahead with Lance, talking about who knows what. I wasn't a very good liar, but Keith didn't seem to notice. Isabelle did, she was staring at me with her deep green eyes,

"Why did you lie?" She asked raising her eyebrows and crossing her arms.

"I-I don't know what you mean," I stuttered, trying to play dumb.

She didn't buy it, but she didn't say anything either. I guess my best friends know when I'm lying. We have to find Mack I said to myself. I can't just leave her to people she probably doesn't even know!

The sun was still up and it was barely above us. Since it was December, the teachers thought it would be bad if snow was on the ground, so they put a spell on this huge forest for it to basically not exist. It wasn't cold, it was probably 65 degrees, feeling more hot with the bright sun shining on us. The trees were dancing with the wind, making the leaves ruffle together making a calming sound. There was a stream close by making the noise of water rush.

We kept walking for a bit, appreciating the view of nature, when we all saw broken twigs, and the sound of wood crackling in the fire. We heard laughter and talking. We all pulled out are wands and held it at ready position. Approaching quietly behind the bushes, peeking at the other team. I saw a tall, dark haired boy who looked about my age sitting next to another boy who had dirty blondish hair. A brown haired boy was gathering sticks from their campsite. I was trying to find Mack, to see if they took her. Then I saw from the opposite side of me, came 3 girls from the forest, a red haired, a brown haired, and.... Mack. I looked at my other team mates and signaled them to jump out from the bushes with me. I fingered 1, 2, 3, NOW! We all jumped from the bushes pointing our wands at the other team, startling them, they stood up, wands out too. We walked slowly to them, trying to get close to Mack so we can grab her and go. Surprisingly, they lowered their wands,

"Took you long enough," the dark haired boy said smirking and walked towards me. I was surprised, frozen even. I couldn't move. Not because there was a spell on me, I was just shocked. He came close to me, face to face and he lowered my wand. I was just standing there idiotically, not saying a word, just having a questionable look on my face.

"What?" I asked looking at the other people behind him. I saw Mack run towards Lance hugging him and kissed him on the cheek. I looked at him again into his eyes, his crystal blue eyes. I snapped out of it when he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I felt Keith run up next to me, grabbing his arm. Keith let go while the boy let his arm swing down to his side.

"Let me introduce ourselves," he said backing away from me. He approached to the blondish haired boy, putting his hand on his friends shoulder, "This is Sebastian, some people call him Seb," then walked towards the red haired girl, "This is Chloe," She smiled, waving kindly, then he approached the brown haired girl, "This is Emily," she gave a curt nod. She wasn't like Chloe, Emily seemed more strict, more stern. "And this is Jacob," he said finishing up, "And I'm Harrison." He smirked, walking up to me, holding his hand out for me to shake. I took his hand. How Harrison talked, I could tell he wasn't from America, he had a British accent.

"I'm Ava," I said letting go of his hand, "This is Keith, Isabelle, and Lance." I pointed to them.

"I want some answers, now." Lance said, holding his girlfriend in his arms, "you okay?" He whispered into her ear.

"I'm fine. And don't worry about these guys they just-well, let them explain," Mack said.

Seb spoke up first, "We wanna team up," He summed it up, I noticed that he kept eyeing Isabelle up and down. I smiled at that.

I was astonished. They wanted to team up. With us. Were they joking?

"You have got to be kidding me," I said rolling my eyes, "You took my best friend and you wanna team up?"

"That was because we wanted to lure you here, so we could ask you the question!" He said almost sounding like he was annoyed.

"And you couldn't ask me when you took Mack!?" I said furiously.

"What's the fun in that?" He smirked.

"You're so-so, annoying!" I said. I already know that we're not gonna get along.

"I think we should leave them alone to talk about it," Jacob said in his southern accent. They all walked to the other side of the camp.

He turned to look at me, "Look, we have some qualities that you need and you have qualities we need. So if we team up, we'll find the Horned Serpent," He stated. Harrison had a point. I can't believe I was thinking about agreeing with him and combining our teams. It seemed like forever since I spoke,

"Fine. We'll combine our teams. But one condition!" I said.

"And what is that?" Harrison said stepping closer to me.

"We are co-leaders!" I said stepping a little bit back, remembering how jealous Keith could get and I could feel his eyes staring at me.

"Deal!" He said, "So, what happened to-" he pointed to the gauze around my forehead.

"Oh, um, my boyfriend and best friend were mesmerized by a mermaid and started to throw rocks at Isabelle and I, but I was the only who got hit." I said in one breath.

"You're interesting, I like that." Harrison said. We both walked towards the team and we were trying to see who will do what.
