We make it back to the parking lot before the evening but I realize something is still missing.
"Where's my car?"
"What?" Harry asks, bewildered.
"Where is my car!?"
I start pacing again, now in all kinds of directions, replaying the events that had occurred, in my mind.
It suddenly hits me that my purse barfed all over the pavement. I race to it. Reinserting it as fast as I could, I hear Harry yell from behind.
"Hey!"
I get up with my purse, feeling the weight of my situation grinding its junk on my shoulders. -_-
"Why me?" I ask, while I bury my face, burned from the scalding events, in my hands.
Looking up, bad vibes emanate. It's getting dark and I still don't have a car. Taxis don't run this route and neither do buses. Ok. Let's begin this walk of shame all the way back to my house. 13 miles away. I mentally curse at myself. Everything important was in my car. I have to deactivate it all. Ah! why am I so stupid?
Beginning my shame stroll, I realize that Harry is gone. He must've gotten my gist that he is unwelcome and went to go stick his location in someone else's destination. Fine by me.
I pass my first 4 way and start whistling to myself. It's a long way hom-
"BEEP!"
What the heck? I look around and see Harry pull up beside me in his blue with white striped Coupe. I don't stop. He rolls down his window intently.
"Need a ride, babe?"
My face turns disgusted as I keep my momentum.
"Not from you."
I pick up my pace and yet, he follows.
"The closest neighborhood is 5 miles away and I know that's not yours because its where all the people who have personal chauffeurs live, who won't forget where their car is."
Fight it. Fight it.
"Not saying that you are stupid or anything for...forgetting where your car is and all. Just, people, who graduate high school, don't usually do tha-"
"Listen here you little shit," I can see the internal smile he pulls widening. He wanted me to do that. He made me do that. Screw him!
"My car was more than likely towed because I may have parked in a reserved spot or in a handicapped. So maybe if you get off your high horse and actually contemplate the actions and various possibilities, you wouldn't be here, driving 3 mph, in your small ass car, trying evoke some kind of emotion from me. Your help is unwanted. Thank you. But no thank you."
Picking up my pace even faster, I realize I am too late for the "go on" walk light. Great.
"You sure you don't need a ride? It's getting late."
I squint at him.
"Don't you have a right turn to make?" I complain, his blinkers getting more annoying by the second.
"Not when I'm missing a passenger."
I lash out. "Dude, I'm not getting in that car!"
"Yes you are."
"Nooo I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"I swear I'm not."
"Yes you is, little girl!"
"No I is not, creep!"
"Yes you are."
"Nope."
"Yes."
"That's exactly what I'm not going to do."
"Yes!"
"Naw!"
Suddenly, it's starts pouring. Not the little drizzle pour, but that romantic comedy, kiss in the rain pour. I squish my eyes together. Of all the days.
He pushes the door open. Reluctantly, I'm pushed into the car. While I close the door, I can hear his smile.
"Yes you are."
