Dance with Vampires

Chapter 10 (part 2)

While Urie, Mage, & Shiki were taking care of the exorcists, Marinette, Nathaniel, & Alya continued to run until they reached a small, abandoned church

NATHANIEL: We should be safe here for the night.

Inside the church

MARINETTE: Nathaniel, that thing they said. Is it true?

NATHANIEL: Sadly yes. My father was a devil. So I'm half-human, half-devil.

ALYA: Nathaniel, who was your mother?

NATHANIEL: Remember Sabine's old friend, Aurore Kurtzberg, and how we'd always say that she and I shared physical similarities when we were younger?

(Marinette and Alya nod their heads yes)

NATHANIEL: She was my actual mother. But when she found out what she was birthing, a devil's child, she fell apart.

ALYA: I'm sorry.

NATHANIEL: It was sad for me, but I was never alone. I had Sabine, your grandfather, and you and Alya. You both kept me strong. I wanted to tell you both the truth from the beginning, but your grandfather and I thought it was for the best if you and Alya didn't know. We wanted to keep you both safe, but in the end, keeping all these secrets only caused you both pain. I'm sorry.

(Marinette and Alya smile)

MARINETTE: There's no need to feel sorry. You did all of this to protect me and Alya. Who cares if you're half-devil? It doesn't change the fact that both me and Alya think of you as family.

(Nathaniel smiles and hugs Marinette, who gladly hugs back)

ALYA: I'm going to go and check the surrounding area to make sure we weren't follow. Be back in a minute. (Leaves)

NATHANIEL: Despite everything that happened, you opened your heart to me, and I'm grateful for that. I was an outcast, and lost person for a long time, but you were there for me, and you helped me. I want to do the same, and be there for you, but more than a friend. Because Marinette, I've been in love with you for a long time.

(Marinette gasps before blushing)

Nathaniel was about to kiss Marinette, but then Adrien interrupts when arrives at the front door. Marinette blushes while Adrien appears shocked.

NATHANIEL: Adrien Agreste. Have you come to try and take the grimoire from me? I won't let you have Marinette.

ADRIEN: Not exactly (looks down)

MARINETTE: Then why?

NATHANIEL: Don't believe anything he has to say. These vampires have done nothing but manipulate you for their own purposes.

Not long after, Alya comes back in, and stands in front of Marinette to protect her.

NATHANIEL: Alya, you and Marinette stay inside. Adrien, this is between me and you.

ADRIEN: Fine.

With his teleportation powers, Adrien transported himself and Nathaniel outside the church to fight.

(About a minute later)

Adrien & Nathaniel's song:

While Nathaniel and Adrien were fighting, Alya and Marinette stayed inside but managed to see energy blasts from the windows. After about a minute of waiting, Marinette chose to run out, and stop them from fighting. When she went outside, she saw Nathaniel on the ground and injured, but Adrien had 4 scratched on his face.

ADRIEN: You can't protect her in this state

NATHANIEL: I'd rather die than let you take her

ADRIEN: If that's what you really want, then consider it done

MARINETTE: Adrien, STOP!!! (Runs up to Nathaniel) Are you desperate to get the grimoire that you'd take an innocent person's life?!?! I was wrong. You are a coldhearted, selfish vampire!

ADRIEN: Marinette...

MARINETTE: It's too late, Adrien! I'm done letting you hurt the people I care about. (Begins to cry) I wish we never met. I HATE YOU!!

(Adrien appears heartbroken)

ALYA: Leave my friends alone, monster! (Throws an energy blast at him)

MARINETTE: Get out of here, Adrien, and leave me alone.

(Adrien leaves)

(Alya runs up to Marinette and Nathaniel)

MARINETTE: Nathaniel. (Sees blood on Nathaniel's back and her hand) You're hurt

ALYA: Come on. We have to get help

NATHANIEL: No. No hospitals. If they find out that we're not normal people, then things will get complicated.

As Alya and Marinette walk off with Nathaniel into a portal back to the vampire realm to find him help, Adrien watches from afar before looking at his king crown.

A high school (infirmary room)

After tending to Nathaniel's wounds, Alya and Marinette chose to take shifts watching over Nathaniel and the surrounding area of the school for trouble. It was Marinette's turn, so Alya took a nap.

MARINETTE: I'm sorry. (Looks at a picture of her and her mom) Too many people have gotten hurt to get to me. First, mom. Now, you and Alya. I don't need the power of the grimoire to better myself. (Walks over to a window and opens it) I need to stay strong, for mom and everyone I care about. (Takes her queen crown out of her pocket) Goodbye, Adrien. (Drops her crown into a fountain)

The Devil realm (Lord Nesta's throne room)

JEK: I'm on my way to retrieve the grimoire, Lord Nesta

NESTA: I trust you won't fail at this, Jek.

JEK: Of course, Master. But what about the boy? Do you have any plans for him?

NESTA: Ah, the boy. I hold his entire fate at my hands.
