Zack didn't show up to school the next day. Or the next. Or the next.
Days, weeks, even months passed. No one heard from him. It wasn't until two months ago when I caught a glance of him(at least I think it was him) one day on my way home. I swear I saw the little Korean boy running into the woods behind his house. I even called out his name, but he didn't seem to hear me.
The next day, his dad called Mr. Finn saying that Zack has been taken out of Travis Prep with no explanation. As soon as the words left Mr. Finn's mouth, Freddy and Later walked out the class, Summer and Jozie started tearing up, and I, well I just stood there doing nothing. I saw Jaele bring out something out of the corner of my eye but I didn't care enough to ask what it was. My thoughts stayed on Zack, worries consuming me, just like they did his last day at school.
Every night I waited by the phone, hoping he would call back, saying he's coming back and everything will be fine.
But he never did.
It's like he's just...gone.
And never coming back.
