Jason and I arrive at Sydney's house, the others are already drinking and chatting among themselves. "Oh, Kim!" Poppy runs up to my and hugs me tightly before dragging me over to the couch she was sitting on. "Yay! You're finally here!" I can smell the alcohol already on her breath, she's not drunk but definitely tipsy. Which makes me wonder, am I getting drunk tonight? I haven't had anything to drink properly since that night at Stephanie's party and we all know that being a drunken state was not my intention. Perhaps I'll play it safe and try to remain sober enough to know where I am.
"Drinking games?" Ellis suggests a few moments later.
"I'm so ready for this, look what my brother brought back from college." Sydney says grabbing the largest bottle of vodka I've ever seen. I haven't seen an overwhelming amount of vodka bottles, enough to know this is a doozy though.
A few seconds later shots are poured out in front of us all and Morgan has taken charge of the situation, not exactly out of the ordinary. "Never have I ever," she begins without asking if that's what we want to play, but there are no objections so she continues, "made out with someone on the football team." Morgan, Jess, Sydney, Steph and Poppy all do a shot. Poppy would be referring to Ellis, you don't have to be Sherlock to work that one out. I don't care who the others are doing shots about except Morgan, she gave a little side eye to Noah who was smirking at her. Have they made out? It suddeny dawns on me that I'm the only girl that hasn't made out with someone on the football team, should I have? No one else seems to notice or care though so I won't dwell.
"Never have I ever cheated." Jess laughs doing a shot as if it were something to be proud of, Morgan does the same.
"What?" Morgan questions the somewhat judging looks she's receiving. "It's not cheating if you don't get caught!" Somehow that's enough to get her off the hook because the others seem to laugh it off. But not Noah, Noah didn't approve.
"Never have I ever made out with someone who's sitting in this circle."Jason says. Everyone does a shot. Everyone but me. All of a sudden the others' eyes are looking at me.
"Never have I ever thrown a party while my parents were out!" Steph says to detract attention from me. About half of the people in the circle do a shot, when Steph finishes hers she gives me a cheeky wink and I know she has my back.
"Never have I ever had sex." Morgan says, it's not even her turn but it doesn't really matter to her. For a second time everyone around the circle does a shot except me. "Kim, you haven't done a single shot!" I look over to Poppy for help but she looks half asleep from all the shots and is leaning on Ellis. "What are you? Some kind of prude?"
"I'm gonna get some fresh air." I murmur, quickly getting up and making my way from the living room to Sydney's garden. I sit down on her garden bench try to hold it together but I can feel my eyes welling with tears. C'mon Kim, don't start crying, they'll think you're even more of a baby if you do.
"Kimmi!" Poppy says falling down onto the bench beside me, clearly drunk. She hugs me tells me "Everything's alright!". I find it difficult to believe that she's even aware of what just happened in her intoxicated state.
"Pop, maybe you should come back inside?" Ellis says appearing from the house. "I don't think you're helping."
"I'm not?" She strokes my face and I almost giggle.
"How about I take over?" Noah suggests accompanying Ellis.
"Um, sure." Poppy says being escorted back inside by her boyfriend.
"So, do you mind if I join you?" Noah asks. I budge up on the bench a little. "You shouldn't be upset by what Morgan says, you know."
"I'm more embarrassed than anything else." I almost whisper.
"You don't need to be." He leans a little closer. "That stuff doesn't mean anything, it's just a game."
"A game where I was called a prude and humiliated." I roll my eyes but I don't think Noah saw, it's starting to get dark.
"I like when you roll your eyes," oh, he did notice, "it shows your character." I take a deep breathe to try and stop myself blushing because I think I was just complimented? "Also," he edges closer to me again, "I'm glad you haven't had sex or cheated," he shakes his head disapprovingly at the thought, "it makes you different." He moves a strand of hair away from my face. "It makes you special." He moves towards me slowly and plants his lips on mine and we kiss.
It's not like when Sydney kissed me, that only lasted a few moments. Noah kisses me and and kisses me. Our tongues dance together, something that's never happened before but I somehow know what to do. It probably is one of the most surreal moments of my life. After a minute or so Noah pulls away and smiles at me. "Really special."
