"Kimberly!" Dad calls from the top of the stairs. "Don't forget to have fun." He reminds me smiling down at me.
"I love you."
"You too." He replies.
"Ugh, this is so mushy you better not embarrass me tonight." Jason, my older brother says closing the door behind him.
"Okay, I won't. You don't need to worry." I assure climbing into the passenger seat of his car.
To fill you in, Jason and I are going to a party at Stephanie Foster's house. She's head cheerleader at our school and Jason currently has a huge crush on her - which is a secret I'm not supposed to know or tell anyone. From that you could be thinking that I'm one of the popular girls at school since I'm going to her party? No. Jason and Stephanie are both in the year above me and the only reason I'm invited to this party is because Stephanie's younger sister just so happens to be my best friend, Poppy.
We pull up at their house and as soon as the car stops Jason begins to dictate, "Don't talk to any of my friends. Don't make a fool out of yourself. No drinking. No telling dad I've been drinking. No embarrassing me. Don't you dare kiss any guys." The last one kind of made me blush and not only because Jason thinks that I guy would try to kiss me but because it shows he cares.
"I won't do any of that stuff." I tell him. "Besides, you're only a year older than me."
"That still makes you only 15." He says then gets out the car.
We walk through the front door, music echoes throughout the house as some teenagers grind and dance while others stand around getting drink or talking to each other. I go up stairs to Poppy's bedroom where she's sitting on her phone.
"Ah good you're here." She says standing up to greet me. "I didn't want to go down there on my own."
"You look great." I tell Poppy and she blushes looking down at herself. Her long blonde hair is loosely curled giving her beach waves and her strapless lilac top goes great with her tight black mini skirt which both compliment her figure.
"Not so bad yourself Kimmi." She says taking my arm and we go downstairs to the party which slowly grows louder. As we reach the bottom of the stairs I see Jason shoot me a warning DO NOT BREAK ANY OF MY RULES look and wrench my black bodycon dress down a little further.
"Drinks?" Poppy asks me.
"No alcohol." I tell her and she pours some coke into two red cups and hands me one.
"Hey," a pretty girl says to Poppy and I, "who're you guys? I haven't seen you around."
"I'm Poppy."
"Kim." I add.
"Well, I'm Sydney. It's great to meet you both."
"You too." Poppy says.
"So why don't I know you? Are you at Oak Grove?"
"Yeah we are, but the year below."
"Oh of course! You must be Steph's sister." She says in realisation and Poppy nods. "I'm gonna go circulate, but I'll see you girls later." She smiles and dances off.
"She seemed really nice." Poppy says.
"Yeah, she was so pretty, I wanna be like that next year." I laugh.
"Oh my gosh look!" Poppy says and gestures across the room.
"What?" I ask, then I see Jason talking to Stephanie! "Oh my gosh!" We laugh.
"You're Stephanie's sister, right?" One of five girls says, interrupting us.
"Yeah, I'm Poppy, it's nice to-"
