I don't own anything except the plot.
Harry POV
"So... The weather?" Percy inquires. I stifle a laugh.
"You tell me." I reply, grinning.
He holds out his hand, as if it's a microphone.
"Well, today the forcast for today calls for a 100% chance of first task, and a dowlnfall of dragons." Hs says in a fake announcers voice, speaking into his "microphone". But my eyes widen.
"How'd you know about the dragons?" I say suspiciously. Percy runs his fingers through his unruly hair, and laughs nervously.
"I overheard you and Cedric talking about it the other day... Sorry."
I sigh. "It's OK. I was going to tell you anyway," I heaitate before asking something I've been thinking about for a while. "How do you and Cedric know each other anyway?"
"Erm..." He pauses for a second, as if deciding how to spin the story. I narrow my eyes. "We went to the same summer camp back in America a few years ago. But then he...um...moved here, and we lost touch." I nod along, but something doesn't seem right.
"We'll, we should probably get ready for the task." Percy says briskly, standing up from his spot in the leaves. But one question still hangs in the back of my mind.
"Percy?" I ask cautiously, standing up from my place aswell.
"What is it, Harry?" He asks, starting to walk.
"Well, I was just wondering, if it's OK with you, why did you come here in the first place?" My cousin stops dead in his tracks, shaking. He closes his eyes, breathing heavily.
"See you in the arena, Harry." Then he walks away, fists clenched. I stare in confusion at Percy's back, and notice there's a bit of dried blood staining his shirt. I think it's time I talked to Hermione.
"Come on, 'Mione!" I plead, "Just help me with something! It will only take a second!"
Hermione sighs. "Sorry Harry, I'm busy. There's a huge exam in Arithmancy coming up, and-"
"Please! It's about Percy!" She stops searching the bookshelves, and slowly around, narrowing her eyes.
"What about Percy?" She asks tentatively, searching my eyes for any clues. I shift in my spot.
"Well, I saw him this morning. In the forest. Well, running towards the forest. He seemed pretty distraught." Hermione's eyes widen, and she snaps her book closed, catching the eyes of several bystanders.
"Harry, I don't think your cousin's whereabouts have anything to do with you." She says, her cheeks reddening.
"So you do know something!" I exclaim, taking a step forward. Hermione does the opposite and takes a step back.
"No. No I don't. And even if I did, it really isn't any of your business. Now, if I were you, I'd be getting ready for the task. Do you even know what you're doing?"
"Umm... not necessarily." I say. Hermione smacks me in the head with her book, which was about a million pages, and I rub my head in pain.
"What was that for?"
"The task is in three hours, you idiot! And you don't even have a plan!" She yells, throwing her arms in the air. I sigh.
"Well, have any ideas?"
"Why don't you go ask Ronald?" She snaps, then storms out of the room. I don't bother going to talk to Ron. He's already pretty angry with me. Why, you may ask? Well, he thinks I cheated my way into the tournament. As if I need more attention. But I do need a plan. Right on cue, Percy enters the room, pale and shaken. I'm about to go up and apologize, but I see Draco trailing behind him, and I quickly back down.
