HARRY'S POV
"Dammit!" I screamed into the phone, running my free hand through my hair.
"I'm sorry it just wasn't her," Anna, the girl I hired to find Clara told me over the phone. By the hitch in her throat, I could tell she was lying. I paused.
"Alright, well you did your job, so I'll still pay you," I lied.
"Really?" She sounded surprised.
"Yeah," I said, placing the phone up against my shoulder as I loaded my gun. "Meet me at the back of the diner in 10 minutes". She agreed and I hung up, finishing loading the gun and tucking it into the waistband of my pants. I left the motel I was staying at and hailed a taxi to the diner I had met Anna at.
She walked up to me, obviously nervous but trying to hide it.
"You came," I said as she got close to me in the empty alley.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" She asked.
"Because I didn't think you were that dumb," I said as I pulled the gun out from behind my back and pointed it at her. She stopped immediately and put her hands up.
"Dude, it's fine you don't have to pay me!" She hurriedly said.
"This isn't about the money," I said, stepping closer to her. "How much money did she offer you? I'll double it if you tell me where she went," I offered.
"She didn't pay me, alright?" Anna said. "And you can put the gun away I don't mind snitching on her. Your girlfriend was a bitch," she said. Her voice showed no signs of lying so I lowered the gun and stepped back, allowing her to make her case.
"I was calling you when this guy showed up," she told me, and my heart dropped.
"Zayn," we both said at the same time.
"Popular guy," Anna remarked.
"Did he get her?" I asked nervously. She let out a small chuckle.
"No. Something tells me this wasn't the first time she's done this," she commented. There was a pause. "She saved my life..." Anna added as she trailed off. This small amount of information gave me hope. Maybe she wasn't as far gone as I thought.
"Do you know where she went?" I asked her. There was another pause.
"Look, she said she didn't want to see you," Anna told me and my heart hurt a little. "And by the number of people she knows that have guns and aren't afraid to pull them on innocent people...I'd say it's best if you just let her go off in the wind," she suggested. I heard what she said but didn't process it.
"You said they had guns? Did she fight them?" I ignored her.
"They shot at us, she shot back, and that's all I remember," she shrugged.
"Was she hurt?" I quickly asked.
"Not that I could tell...," She tailed off and I could feel her looking at me. "Okay it's obvious you really care about her. And even though she saved my life and you pulled a gun on me...she was a bitch. I mean she really got inside my head," she said and I couldn't help but crack a smile. "So I'm going to help you out". She slowly reached into her pocket and grabbed a small phone out of it. She tossed it to me and I caught it, glancing at it quickly before gazing back up at her.
"I slipped a tracker in her pocket after I knocked her out," she explained as she started backing out of the alleyway. "Tell her I say sorry," she grinned before reaching the end of the alleyway and falling off onto the side where I could no longer see her.
