"You die, every time?" Sans turned and faced me.
"I die," I repeat, "I die from a glitch. Whether that glitch is an A.U. or a time-lapse or simple murder, I die. Before I'm supposed to. Before I'm ready to."
He shook his head. He looked sad but also ashamed, maybe, ashamed of trying to get me to free the monsters not realizing that it meant their happy ending but never mine.
"I could have helped, Frisk."
"How was I supposed to tell you, Sans? 'Hey Sans, can you keep an eye on me twenty-four seven since there's a very high chance I'll die sometime soon?'" I crossed my arms.
"Yes!" He piped up, "That's what you do for people you love! You help them!"
I turned away from him.
"Look, I'm sorry. I just... I need the old Frisk back, okay? I can protect you up there, even if it means sticking by your side twenty-four seven. We can get Alphys to build a machine to watch the timelines and... and we can do this. We will do this. Okay?"
I shook my head, still not looking at him, "We've already tried that. It's either I die or we stay Underground."
"That was then, Frisk. This is now. We can do this, okay? You need to be determined."
I blinked a couple of times, feeling nearly blinded by the white snow, suddenly drained of all energy. "I lost my determination a long, long time ago."
