Miss Peregrine's POV

I stare blankly at the wallpaper in the kitchen. I think about Victor, mother, father, Miss Avocet and Elizabeth. They all died or were torn away from me. The children keep me sane. I honestly don't know what I would do without them by my side.

I look over with misty eyes to the hall where Millard is, in the nude of course. I know he's there, staring at me.

"Millard, do go and put some clothes on," I tell him. He walks away slowly.

Hugh strides in to see me, eyes welling with tears. He sits down at the hardwood table.

"Miss P? What's wrong?" He asks.

"Oh, nothing dear. Are you alright?" I say, blinking away tears.

"It's not nothing, Miss. Please, whatever is the ma'er?" He repeats.

I tell him, he's a little scared. I hope that nothing bad ever happens to my children, but I can only hope.

He comforts me, then leaves me to myself. I decide to go down to the village and get some things. I take the children.

Claire and Bronwyn, Olive and Enoch, the twins and Emma and I link hands and start down to the village. Suddenly I feel a cold touch of a biting breeze.

Then I have a feeling something is terribly wrong, I spin on my heel and turn to see my worst nightmare, responsibility obscures my thoughts, overrides my senses.

A female wight, standing atop the small hill, her eyes glowing in the dimming light. I immediately have a feeling of compunction.

"Well, Alma. I must say, I never really expected to see you again," She says.

A hit of recognition engulfs me.

"Nor I, Elizabeth. You have changed quite a bit,"

She edges closer and closer and closer to the children and me. Elizabeth cackles maniacally. We were best friends, why did she join my brother?

"Jack, he showed me the way. He's just fantastic isn't he?" She says, lunging at me. She and I crash to the ground, her hands wrapped around my neck. She squeezes tighter and tighter.

"Isn't he?!" She screams, letting go of my throat and kicking my side. I roll away in pain, shutting my eyes and breathing deeply.

I pick myself up, glaring at her. She just laughs. Elizabeth's milky eyes travel over the children.

"Don't touch them," I snarl, glaring daggers.

She again laughs and leaps at Olive and rips her from Enoch's grip. She smirks and raises a small pointed knife to her throat.

"Give her back. Now!" I tell her. Enoch steps up on my left side.

Olive's face is white and tears are quietly cascading down her face.

Then Enoch does something I never would have thought he would do, he jumped at Elizabeth causing her to drop Olive. He pins Elizabeth down and delivers a hard blow to her head, causing her instantly to pass out.

The inevitable comes next, she has to die. Bronwyn carries her up to the house and I order everyone upstairs. I collect the crossbow and kill the creature that was, once upon a time, my best friend. I collapse in tears, covering my face. I feel a hand on my back. Fiona.

"It's alright, Miss. We're gonna be okay now,"

A/n I do have a habit of making all our favorite characters be in pain don't I? Oh, well..
