"Jellybeans" said Jonas approvingly.
The were many things his world had lost and Jellybeans was one of them.
"Do you have our orders sir?" The Corporal watched as his superior ate handfuls of candy like a child on Christmas day; shovelling them under his visor whilst a happy face was projected upon it in digital form.
"Have you ever tasted anything so good? They're exceptionally sweet."
"The men would like to know what to do if they encounter... their own?"
"They worry still do they? I have sent for one to prove the point. If we kill an ancestor when we are here, do we die? Did we ever exist? We will see Corporal. Very soon it will be a fine demonstration for the regiment. Tell the men to assemble and I shall meet them in a quarter past the hour."
"Thank you sir. It is all they talk about."
"Never forget why we are here Corporal. These people are our enemy. They destroyed this place and did this to us..." Johann took off his visor, the digital smile projected onto it disappeared as he did so. His face was a ruin of scabs and weeping ulcers; his cheek bones appeared swollen and his eyes were slits peering from within a mass of scar tissue. "Kree has given us the opportunity to change the future of this planet. Burn and rebuild. Burn and rebreed with the pure bloodline. Would you like to have children, whose children are born unmarked, unblemished?"
"Yes sir."
"That is my wish also. Burn and rebuild. Burn and rebreed! Tell that to men!"
"Yes sir!"
