Chapter 24
On February 14th, I found a special surprise in my locker.
Daimion gave me a box of chocolates. Yes, yes it was sweet. But I thought that he wasn't spending money on valentines day? And since he blended this rule, doesn't that mean I get some leeway too?Seriously, what couple doesn't want to get the person they love the most a little something?
"You!" I yelled to him from across the hallway.
"Me?" Corey Indigo said.
"No not you. Get Daimion for me!" Daimion already heard his name and came walking. He looked happy, probably assuming that I was going to thank him.
"You said you weren't spending money." I said tapping my foot.
"I didn't. I found it unopened in my dads room." He seemed proud when he said this. I was going to let him reign in all his glory though. Just because it was valentines day I didn't want to tell him how I really felt. I didnt want to say that that was a little bit disgusting and he doesn't know how old those things were.
"So...I have another little something for you." Oh great. What now?
"Here." The bell rang. "Oh crap, I gotta run. Mrs. Barton hates when people are late to Chemistry. Bye." I nudged my head towards him, requesting a kiss on the cheek. He did so and went off. Right before he left he gave me a nice looking envelope. I didn't think an envelope could ever look nice, but this one did. It was red, deep blood red. It had a decorative ribbon around it. When I opened it I found a neatly typed invitation. It invited me to Daimions house tonight, for a valentines day dinner.
I blushed. I was not assuming this. This, out of all things. I was wondering though if he was going to cook or order out and pass it as his own. But I was not going to ride him again about spending money. I was the one who wanted to spend in the first place.
At about 6:30 I headed over to Daimions house. I prepared myself nicely, including a very, very expensive necklace. I wore a long deep red dress with stilettos. I felt way too over dressed for this. But after I was dressed, there was no time to change back. In the car I tried to loosen some of my tightened curls. But it was no use, they were hairsprayed to hard.
"I'm sorry, I know it's too--" I stopped. I had to remind myself to breathe, because my breath was taken away by the beauty. An intertwining of leaves ran around the side doorway. About a dozen roses were made into a path, leading from the door I came in from and the leave-decorated door. I gathered each rose and cracked open the door. Wait, why wasn't the food set up inside? Was he crazy? It's February, in New York. It's not certainly warm outside.
I just kept getting proved wrong, over and over. I was taken aback by the warmth of the air. Nearly 100 candles were lit, heating up the area. Of course that wouldnt just do it, so there was a cozy fire going also. A white cloth covered table sat in the middle of our dining area. Two more candles were on that along with a card addressed to me. This was all amazing, but where was Daimion?
"Do you uh, like it?" I heard a voice say. He peaked around from the doorpost.
"Like it? It's.. It's.." I carefully cupped his face in my hands and kissed him tenderly.
"Does that answer your question?" I said. He smiled. Daimion pulled out my chair for me and then went to go get the food. Now this is a gentleman. I wonder why can't ever other guy do this? Pull out chairs and cook dinner themselves. It's seems like something so little, but to any girl it means the world.
Daimion carried out a tray with Chicken Parmesan on it. One of my favorite meals. There were also breadsticks on the side.
"That look delicious." We dug in as soon as we could. And yes my prediction was true, it was super amazingly delicious. But right now I had a few questions on how he made this all possible.
"What is your secret, oh wise one?"
"Well its all in the sauce--" He said in between a huge bite of chicken.
"No silly, this night. How did you pull this off?"
"I'm actually surprisingly creative. I didn't know I had it in me!" He smiled. I knew he was just messing around because he knew I was talking about the money. But there was no way in hell I could get angry at him right now.
"Daimion!"
"Okay; okay. I actually didn't pay much. The roses, I took from the neighbors garden far down the road. The leaves I obviously just got from trees. I hand made all the candles. And I spent exactly fourteen dollars and eighty nine cents on all the food. Which I did make myself!"
"Impressive." It was about eight o clock. Daimion pulled out an old couch from the garage. We laid on it together outside by the fire. I saw the moon up in the dark night sky, creating the perfect romantic moment.
"Jaclyn, your my every thing. I love you."
I blushed. I have never felt so loved. "I love you too, Daimion. I love you too."
