Emilia never liked flying very much, she was more of a ground girl,  you give her a car and she could go anywhere but flying gave her the creeps. But it was the fastest way to get across the country and she couldn’t be on a road trip with her annoying step cousin, she was not able to stand her for a long time especially in close spaces.

Em turned her head to her right and saw Lydia sitting next to the window,  she was relaxed and looked as pretty as always even though they were on a plane.

Lydia was her uncle’s wife daughter, he got married last year and since then Em had to put up with her uptight, self-centered and spoiled step-cousin/sister, she actually didn’t know how to call it.

“What?” Lydia asked her without leaving her eyes of the magazine.

“Ehm… nothing,  I was just wondering how can you be so relaxed when it come to planes”

Lydia rolled her eyes and looked at her.

“I’m use to it. Mom and I use to travel a lot to Paris before she..." She looked down at the magazine again “never mind”

“woo,  hey,  it’s okay. I know that you had to give up lots of trips when your mom married my uncle” Emilia didn’t know why Lydia hated her,  at least that was the feeling she got when they were in the same room.

“Yeah..  whatever..”

“It wasn’t my fault you know…” Lydia was not answering and that made her angrier. “What’s going on? Why are you being such a bitch?”

That seemed to make Lydia snap

“So now I’m the bitch? I could be going on this trip with my friends but no! You had to come along…” She closed her magazine and started imitating her mother’s voice “No Lydia, what will Emilia do here alone with us. Take her with you Lydia try to get along. I think it’s better if you make the trip just the two of you it might make you bond. Be nice Lydia…" her voice went back to normal “and all that stupid crap about bonding, you could have said you didn’t want to come”

Emilia’s mouth fell to the ground

“It’s not my fault… My uncle asked me to come with you on this trip and I’m going to try to please him, he has done too much for me, so as I see it we have two options” she put one finger up “One, we can hate each other and have the most horrible summer holidays ever,  or two try to at least get along for two month and we can forget about all this once we are back home heading to our respectives universities.”

Lydia looked up and then down and then she looked at her with her arms crossed.

“Well… I don’t want to have the most horrible summer holidays ever… so I guess I could try to get along with you…  as long as you don’t bother me”

“aagrrr really Lydia? The least thing I want to do is to bother you..”

And with that she opened her romantic novel settled in ancient Rome and neither of them talked through the whole trip. They will have to do plenty of that once they reached the guest house at the beach.

“Are you sure we are going the right way?” Kit was turning the map upside down and looking at it with confusion.

Stiles looked at him while tapping his fingers over the wheel and smiled.

“Come on Kit, you know me enough to trust me with this, I’m an expert on road trips…” He looked at the road again “ would you be a good friend and pass me the bag of cheetos”

“I trust you, mister expert in road trips, but..” Kit bent down to grab the bag and give it him “ It's just..  I think we passed that sign like 3 times now”
