Once in California

CHAPTER 16

The group was hanging out on the beach one afternoon. The five girls were sitting and chatting about almost everything while the boys were trying to build up a fire.

Logan came with the idea of making a bonfire,  no one knew where he got his ideas from but they were quite interesting.

“There” Stiles put a piece of wood at the top of a lot of branches piled up together “This has to work” he smiled at the rest

“Are you sure?” Kit asked staring at the pile of wood in front him “I don’t know… guys?” He looked at the rest of the boys.

“It should work” Logan said not very confident

“What do you mean by ‘It should’?” Stiles pretended to be offended by his words “It is going to work,  come on..  it’s wood how hard can it be to fire it up?”

Jason came back from his Hilux with some matches and gave them to Stiles

“Try not to burn yourself man” he said and tap him on the back.

Stiles looked at the box of matches and shook his head

“Hell no! You do it!” he gave it to Kit.

Kit looked at it and threw it back to Stiles

“I don’t want to get burn, YOU do it”

“Hell no!!” the box of matches flew again to Kit’s hands “You are not as clumsy as me, YOU do it” 

Kit tried to throw the box again but a soft hand stopped him.

Lydia took the box of matches away from him and lighted one up. The match became pure fire once she threw it to the pile of wood and it the bonfire started burning up.

The strawberry blond rolled her eyes and shook her head.

“Boys…” she whispered and went back to sit with Mary and Emilia who were laughing at what Lydia did.

“Well that was embarrassing” Kit said raising his eyebrows and sitting down on the sand.

Stiles copied him

“Geez she is scary sometimes” Stiles said and looked at her. Lydia smiled at him and he returned the smile.

Kit looked between his best friend and the green eyed girl and he grinned. Stiles noticed and grinned back at him

“What?” he asked and Kit shook his head.

“Nothing, nothing it’s just she can’t stop staring at you”

“Naaah…” Stiles smiled and shook his head “she is just being nice, she is really into Freddie”

Kit look at how Freddie walked out of the water and fall to the sand next to Lydia to kiss her.

“I still don’t know what she sees in that guy” Kit said and Stiles sighed

“She likes guys like that, haven’t you notice?”

“What do you mean by that?” Kit asked and Stiles smiled

“Strong guys, with great body, perfect smile” he rolled his eyes “tanned, six pack athletic” he pointed at him “a lot like you actually” he laughed

“I’m not tanned and it sounds very shallow” Kit also laughed

“Yeah it is quite superficial actually” he shrugged “But that’s normal I guess, girls like her do things like that” he laughed “I’m pretty sure you were on her list but Emilia came around and well…”
