Once in California

Chapter 4

Their first week at the beach went by pretty fast, Lydia’s friends were staying at a 5 stars hotel in the centre so they spend most time of the day with them, something that Lydia and Stiles enjoyed quite a lot.
Lydia because she could spend more time with her friends and Stiles well  he was getting to know Jenny a lot. So Kit wasn't  surprised when he walked into them kissing in Stiles’s jeep. After that incident they were all over each other, which sometimes was a bit annoying because he was the only man in the group and those girls looked at him in a way that made Kit feel very uncomfortable.

Lucky Emilia was there most of the time, they got to know each other a lot, and found out they had more things in common that they thought. He found out that her favorite colour was red, that she loved her uncle and animals, she actually had 3 cats, she likes crying with romantic movies but she prefers books a lot more, but what he liked the most about her was how nice she was to almost every human being, she was kind and sweet no one could deny that.

Spending time with Emilia was amazing, they had a lot of fun, especially making jokes about almost everyone else in the group. You could say that they were very close by now.

Kit and Emilia were not the only ones who got along. Since Stiles was all the time with Jenny, Lydia started to be nicer to him, so the four of them share meals and breakfasts most of the time and they actually have fun together. Sometimes Kit had the feeling that the  strawberry blonde was more into Stiles than what she admitted to anyone, he could notice how once in a while she shoot daggers at Jenny with her eyes.

One morning Kit and Em were having breakfast trying to decide what to do for the day, when Lydia burst into the dining-room. 

“Oh, thank god you are here” she said and sat down on one of the free chairs.

“Where else would we be?” Kit asked and Emilia rolled her eyes.

“Well I don’t know” she took a slice of bread “everyone seem to leave these days” 

“What do you mean by that?” Em asked and Lydia just smiled.

“Yeah, you know all of you have interesting things to do and I just…”

Kit and Emilia just stared at each other and then looked at Lydia carefully.

“We are all the time doing things together” Em said “and you’re there with us”

“You know what, never mind” she looked around looking for something or someone “Where’s Stiles? He should be down by now, right?”

Kit smirked

“Oh ehm… he, he is not here” he said

“What do you mean?” both girls looked at him with intrigue.

“Well, he spent the night with Jenny”
Several facial expressions crossed Lydia’s face.

“Oh” she finally said and looked at her cup of coffee “That explains his rush last night”

Kit didn’t know what to think about Lydia sometimes, she was a nice girl and for most of the people very superficial, but in moments like now she looked so selfless and he was sure he saw sadness in her eyes. He wasn’t certain that the girl had feelings for his best friend but he knew that something was going on in her mind.

“So, what are we going to do today?” the redhead asked again

“Well it’s a beautiful morning and we thought we could go to the beach” it was Emilia who answer with a big smile on her face, a smile that Kit couldn’t help staring at.

“Yeah…” he said without taking his eyes of the brunette’s mouth “that would be fun”

Lydia grunted
