I turn to look back at the Opening and recall last night when I had just arrived here. Nowhere is truly safe anymore. Savannah and I hide behind one of the trucks that the army men had parked. We weren't alone. Many of them were casually talking and snacking and I feel a light pang of how easy it looks for them.

Recalling Declan, I feel sick. But I push through it knowing that I'm not alone anymore, I promised Robert I would take care of Savannah no matter what. So far she hasn't proven to be a big nuisance but then who would loud and obnoxious when knowing that the people they grew up with are doomed and are dying.

I check up on her. Her face is emotionless, as she simply stares at nothing, her whole body tired from the runs and her mind exhausted by the panic. She then looks up and her honey brown eyes meet mine and there is so much hopelessness and grief in them that I have to look away in surprise. I don't blame her, it's never easy for anyone.

I finally feel my focus get clearer again. I try to push Declan out of my mind but it's hard. After everything we've been through, after all the adventures and memories made along with him, it's hard to see him again. Especially after that. His betrayal is still a fresh, like a knife that he's pushed into one same spot in my back repeatedly. It still hurts and seeing him only worsened the already fading scars.

I look out at the men by the tanks taking sips of coffee in plastic cups.

Good, they're off-guard.

I turn to tell Savannah to get ready and run but I am cut short when I see the rage and fury she carries in her eyes as she looks at them. I am left rather perplexed by her sudden emotions of anger which I truly wasn't anticipating. If she could, she would kill them, that's the look she sends out.

"Let's go." I beckon to her.

And in three seconds there we are, fleeing for our lives once afain.
