Stil slightly stunned, I let myself be pulled out onto the front yard for the Reset. I paused briefly before standing next to Miss Peregrine, watching her as she put on the record, pulled on her gas mask, and looked towards the sky.
The Reset turned out to be pretty fasicanting; the planes flew over head and just when a bomb got super close to hitting the roof, Miss Peregrine clicked the knob on her watch.
Everything around the Peculiars and I froze. The raindrops looked like perfect diamounds hanging on invisable threads, and the bomb looked like some memorial you might find in a museum. I slowly raise my hand to touch a raindrop, only to see and feel Miss Peregrine grab my wrist.
We both freeze at the contact, her skin is chilly against mine. "Don't." Her voice is rather commanding, but has a touch of softness, like she doesn't want to see me get hurt. I nod ever so slightly, and we lower our hands in unison. But she doesn't let go.
I basically space out after that, paying attention to nothing except her hand, fingernails lightly poking my wrist, gently gripping. Whether she noticed or not she gave no sign, calmly she pushed the watch knob back and I watched in wonder as the bomb pulled back and the planes pulled away.
With a satisfied smile, she tucked the watch back in her pocket, and saw her hand gripping my wrist. She paused for a moment before quickly letting go.
Once she walked away, I lightly touched my wrist, smiling slightly. She waited before letting go. I thought. What could that mean? But I was too happy to think further into the matter.
