Lonely, or am I?

The next day, I went out to wait for Pearly, my thoughts drifting back to the conversation I had yesterday.

She seemed so sad when I said I love Pearly. But why should she care? The flapping of birds wings made me raise my head. Smiling, I stood and watched Pearly as she landed on a nearby tree. I walked over to the plants base and looked up into the branches, she screeched down at me and I let out a happy sigh.

"I've said this before and I'll say it again; I wish you were human. If you were, I'd adore you with all my heart." Tears pricked the corners of my eyes. "I love you Pearly. I love you so much."

She looked at me for a moment before circling down, when she disappeared behind the tree, I ran to the around back where I saw her perched on a hedge.

She did a little jump, and in a swirl of dark blue, Pearly stood before me, in her true form.

"Miss Peregrine?!" She smiled warmly. "I love you too." For a moment, neither of us moved, an earie silence set in as Miss Pregrine's smile turned into a sad frown.

"I-I'm sorry. Lets pretend this never happened." She turned and took two steps before I ran forward, stepped in her path, and hugged her.

I raise my head, tears streaming down my cheeks. "Don't you ever leave me again." Her hands tenderly held my face eyes glossy with upcoming tears. "I never will...I promise." And she kissed me.

I knew then everything would be okay.
