Harry and Louis stood silently next to the big vases of flowers as they waited to be told to go up the steps and onto the highest platform of the church. A messenger had come in a whole ago to say that the wedding would have to start later since Eleanor was having technical difficulties with her dress.

Louis could see Harry secretly glancing over at him every few seconds and that was only because he was doing the same thing. It was clear that Harry wanted to start a conversation as bad as Louis did. But what was there to talk about? Wouldn't it just start up confusion again if they did? Louis knew that that was exactly what would happen but this silence was too awkward

"So are you and Monique a thing now?” Louis asked looking over at Harry who took a few seconds to answer.

“No why?”

“You seem to be getting cosy.”

“We’re just friends.”

“Well I heard Niall accidentally let her little secret slip.”

“We're still friends.”

“You guys would make a cute couple,” Louis said locking eyes with Harry. He saw a wave of confusion cross Harry's face which was quickly replaced with a smirk.

"Thanks pal."

They continued to exchange smug expressions and smiles like it was all a game. Their eye game was interrupted by the same messenger telling them that Eleanor was finally ready. The two moved up the stairs slowly and Louis felt anxious just looking at all the people in the audience with massive smiles on their faces. They all looked and seemed more excited than Louis had ever felt about this marriage.

"You don't seem anymore excited about this event than the last time I saw you," Harry suddenly said cutting Louis's attention away from the crowd of people sitting in their aisles.

"Neither do you."

"Hey I'm not the one getting married."

"But it's your best friend getting married; you should be just as excited."

Louis watched a smile spread over Harry's face and he himself felt better as well.

"Seeing as how excited you look maybe someone should stand up and say something to put you out of your misery."

"Are you saying I might have a secret admirer sitting in the audience somewhere."

"They don't have to be someone from the audience." Louis could feel Harry's eyes boring into his soul.

"It only works in movies you know that right?"

"That's because you've only watched it happen in movies."

"Even if someone was going to stop this wedding and announce their love for me, they do know how much shit they would be getting them self into and how much of a fool they would be making of them self right?" Louis said knowing that it was about someone said that.

"Remember only fools fall in love," Harry quoted in a wise old voice.

"Are you calling me a fool?" Louis asked with mock horror.

"Are you saying you're in love?"

"Yes I am."

"How ironic I think I am too. The groom and the best man both in love but not with each other right?"

They both knew that Harry had crossed the line with that comment but it was the hard cold truth and they both knew it.

Louis turned away from Harry and went back to glancing over the people in the audience as Harry's words echoed in his head. They had both accepted the truth in their minds but it was the problem of putting those thoughts into words.
