Chapter 17 ~ Light Over Darkness

7 AM ~ Josh's Apartment

I barely got any sleep last night, I decided to wait for Leo to get up and then ask him about the text.. My mind then started to wander and fear turned into rage. Without even thinking about it I left my apartment and headed to Leo's apartment. I need an answer and I need it now. I can't lose my boyfriend to Rose. With his phone in my hand, I knock on the door... Out came Rose.

"Ugh. What do you want? It's so early", says a groggy Rose.

"Where's Leo?", I ask

"He's asleep, check back later", she says while trying to close the door but I stopped it.

"I'm the significant other, you're the ex. Know your place!", I warn as I storm in.

I darted into Leo's room to see he was asleep.

"Oi. Wake up", I poke at him.

"Oh. Babe. Good morning", he says yawning.

I then handed him his phone.

"What's this about?", I reply seething.

As he reads the text his eyes widen.

"Rose!!!", he yells.

"Yeah?", she replies entering the room.

"This is why you asked where my phone was last night, wasn't it?", he asks

"I don't know what you're talking about", she snarls.

"Dammit Rose! This isn't funny. Does this look like a game to you?", he yells.

Rose's eyes widened in shock then walks away.

I stood there with a 'WTF is happening' look on my face.

"Babe. I'm so sorry. Rose pranked you. She knew I left my phone in your apartment. This is her idea of a joke, she's trying to get you jealous", he explains.

"What about last night? You left so quickly. Without even a warning you darted out the door.", I ask

"Last night Rose looked pale. I found her in the bathroom cutting herself. I couldn't leave her in that state of mind. I couldn't leave her like that. I was afraid", he explains.

"So you lied to me?", I ask.

"At that moment, lying sounded better than telling the truth.", he says

"Leo. You don't have to lie to me. Secrets are poison in a relationship. I would have understood if you told me", I say to him.

"I'm sorry babe. I'll never do it again", he says.

He came closer, put his nose on mine, put his fingers into mine, and whispered, "I love you, Josh, I really mean that."

"I love you to Leo, with all my heart", I whisper.

"Hill of the Stars tonight? We need some "us" time", he smiles as he kisses me.

"Very well dear. Don't forget to brush your teeth?", I wink.

I blew a sigh of relief as I left his apartment. Rose gave me the evil eye but I wasn't worried anymore. Light will always prevail over darkness.

6:25 PM ~ Josh's Apartment.

*knock knock*

"Josh. Are you ready to go?", says a voice.

I open the door to see Leo smiling, looking as elegant as usual. His smile pierced my heart and I started blushing like a freak.

"Every time I smile at you blush.", he smiles. .

"I can't help it. I'm madly in love with you.", I reply while blushing like a love-struck child.

"I bought you a gift.", he says while pulling out a package.

"What? For me? But why?", I asked

"For being the best boyfriend ever", he blushes.

I open the package to find a phone.

"You bought me a phone?", I ask

"Yes my love, you don't own one. I can't stand being away from you, a phone will come in handy", he says.

"I don't know what to say. Thank you so much.", I said smiling.

"I'll help you set it up later, lets head to our place", he smiles.

"Agreed. Let's go, it's gonna be a great night", I said
