Chapter 16 ~ Prelude to Destruction

-SATURDAY OCTOBER 1ST 2011-

7:20 PM ~Josh's Apartment

*knock knock*

I open the door and see Leo

"Hey, babe. Are you ready to go?", he asks

I stared at him with a confused look on my face. Why did he knock? Ever since we started dating he's always entered freely so why did he knock?

"Umm... It's late. I thought you forgot?", I ask

"Oh yeah. Rose took a lot longer than I thought. I would've called you but you don't own a phone. We'll have to get you one", he replies

"I've already showered so I'll just change", I say to him

"Yeah, you go ahead. I'll wait here", he says

"Eh? Urm... Leo come inside. Why would you wait outside?", I asked with a confused look

"Oh right. Sorry babe. I'm so tired. My brain isn't working", he laughed

"We'll go tomorrow. Come inside with me", I say while leading him to the bedroom.

We then lay down beside each other, my eyes looking at him and his eyes on my chest.

"Look at me strawberry", I say to him

He then peered his eyes into mine

"I love you, Leo, so much", I say to him

"I love you to munchkin", he says to me

His eyes weren't glowing. His eyes were distant. He didn't start blushing or turned red this time like he usually does. This is the first time he's said 'I Love You' without showing any emotion while saying it

What's going on with him? What's on his mind? What did that witch Rose do? I looked into his dead lifeless eyes and shed a tear

"Babe! Hey what's wrong?", he says as he jumps up immediately

"I don't know what's going on with you Leo. I don't know how to help you this time cause I don't know what's going on. I want to help you and its frustrating not being able to do anything", I reply while getting up crying

"Oh, my love. I've had a long day and I'm super tired. I'm so sorry I made you worry", he says while drying my tears

"Why is Rose here? Why is she clutching onto you like that?", I ask

"Rose.. Was my first love. We were together for two years but she cheated on me and I couldn't forgive her. I eventually did and gave her a second chance. I've always been bound to her. She moved away a year ago and we broke up, she often calls to check up on me. Her dad passed away 5 days ago, she's here for support. She may seem like a bitch but she's not bad, she's just in a bad mood these days so I apologize on her behalf", he explains.

"Oh, I understand. I'm so sorry to hear that", I say holding his hand.

"Yeah. Its been a long day.", he says

"Stay the night? Don't leave me alone", I say to him.

"I... I can't. I gotta make dinner for Rose. She seems really down this evening so I can't leave her alone tonight. I could stay with you for a little bit longer if you'd like?", he says to me.

"Oh. I see.. Naw. It's okay. It would seem that she needs you ...", I say trying to stop myself from not bursting out crying.

"I knew you'd understand. Thanks, Josh. I promise I'll make it up to you tomorrow", he says as he kisses me forehead and headed for the door.

He darted out of the room so fast that I didn't get to say a single word to him. What in the world just happened? That wasn't what I expected the outcome of that conversation to end.

I sat on the bed dazed and confused. What is going through his mind right now? That's no way to leave your boyfriend? Don't get me wrong, I do understand the situation that Rose is facing but I do hope she's not taking advantage of him... Tonight Leo wasn't his usual self, he was quite the opposite of that.

*Beep Beep* *Beep Beep*

Leo left his phone on my bed.

Message from Rose: Hurry back down here. I need you. You promised you wouldn't be long. I'm gonna start the Notebook without you.

My sadness then quickly turned into rage......
