Chapter 30 ~ Dodging the Truth

Diamond Star Publishing Company: 4:30 PM

Hours had passed, I learned where the break room was, everyone on my floor seemed really nice, except this guy named Chad who kept giving me the evil eye. The secretary downstairs was really cool, her name was Mary, she's getting married soon.

"Josh how your site seeing?", Candice's voice says from behind.

"It went well. I really like it here", I turn around saying.

"How was lunch?", she asks.

"Oh. I haven't had any. I drank a cup of coffee. Don't really have much of an appetite.", I reply.

"Don't forget about your presentation", she reminds me.

As she walks away I hear the elevator ding. I turn around and out came Leo. He smiled and walked straight up to me.

"Hi", he says.

"Hey, how was your meeting boss?", I ask.

"Boring as usual. My friend is trying to buy my company but I won't let him", he replies.

"I see... So you're an editor? Why?", I ask.

"Well, I made this company in hopes of publishing a star one day. I have someone in mind. You could say the company is for him.", he says.

"Did that person become a "Diamond Star"?, I ask.

"Nope. He hasn't yet", he replies.

We then stare at each other and there was a moment of awkwardness.

"Well.. There's some stuff I gotta do before the meeting. I should go", he says.

"Very well sir", I smile.

"Leo. Not boss. Call me Leo. Gimme your hand Josh and close your eyes", he says.

"What? Why?", I ask

"Just do it", he says as he takes out a pen.

I close them as he writes something on my hand.

"Open them", he says.

I open my eyes to see he's written his contact number on my hand.

"It's my contact number.", he smiles while walking away.

I can't believe this guy. What game is he playing? This was all so confusing. So many thoughts ran through my head and so many questions.

I waited patiently for 5 PM then Candice came to get me.

"Are you ready?", she asks.

"Yeah let's do this", I sigh.

We both then walked into how office, he was sitting down waiting for us.

"Right on time. Go ahead, Josh. Shoot", he says.

"This story seems interesting...", I say.

"How so? You don't need to hold back. Candice knows I'm gay", he says.

"It's something straight out of your diary Leo", I said as my tone changed.

"Don't you like it?", he smiles.

"I would if I didn't know what happened next", I say.

"Well, it's just 4 chapters. What do you think happens next Josh?", asks Candice.

"Next both guys fall madly in love, create cute beautiful memories together then hit a bumpy road then everything goes downhill and the guy hopes his love will get them through it but the other guy dies and now he has to live with that for the rest of his life!", I snap.

"That's morbid Josh! No one would want to read that", says Candice.

"No, he's absolutely right. That is actually what happens next.", says Leo.

"Wait what?", she questioned.

"Candice. I told you why I founded this company right?", he asks.

"Yes to find your rising star", she says.

"Yes precisely. We've published many books but they're all missing a special touch. This company is for Josh as an apology to him", says Leo.

"For me?", I ask.

"I'll explain later sir. Candice says you haven't eaten. I'll take you for dinner and explain everything", he says as I comply.
