Chapter 2

Date: April 22, 1987

Michael's POV

Today has already been tiring and its only noon.! I got up at 7, met with Frank about the tour, went to the studio and recorded some things, and now, Im waiting to meet my new personal photographer I was in my office when I heard a knock on the door

Michael: Come in.!

(The door opened and my assistant, Julie, walked in along with someone else.)

Julie: Michael, this is your new photographer, Shayne Matthews

(Wait, Shayne.?! I stood up and walked over to them. I smiled.)

Michael: Julie, could you leave us alone.? Just to get acquainted

Julie: Sure Mikey

(She walked out, closing the door behind her. I focused my attention back to Shayne, who was looking right at me.)

Michael: Hello again Shayne

Shayne:(Smiles) Hi Michael

Michael: I didn't know that you are a photographer

Shayne: I wouldn't expect you to We only talked for about a minute

Michael:(Blushes) Oh yeah......Your right

(We stood there in an awkward silence for about a minute.)

Michael: Would you like a tour of the house.?

Shayne: Sure

(I led her through the house and we went outside.)

Michael: Well, as you know, this is Neverland I bought the land like two years ago and had this house built I also had them make an area for the zoo, and the amusement park

Shayne: Wow......What made you wanna.....have all of this.?

Michael:(Sighs) I felt like.....I didn't have a place to escape to and then I figured, why not make one and have it in your own backyard.?..........I can't believe Im telling you all this You probably think Im weird

Shayne: No, I don't.!! I think its cool that you created all of this

Michael:(Blushes) Thanks

(We continued to walk on the pathway, which lead us to the animal cages. We walked over to where the baby monkeys were.)

Shayne: Aw.! They're beautiful, Michael.!

Michael: Wanna hold one.?

Shayne:(Excited) Can I.?!

(I opened the cage and stepped inside. Shayne followed behind me and sat on the ground. I picked up one of the monkeys, whose name was Cyn, and handed her to Shayne. Cyn snuggled into Shayne's chest.)

Shayne:(Gasps) She's so sweet.!

Michael: Yeah She's one of my favorites, besides bubbles, of course

(I watched as Shayne held and caressed Cyn as if she was a baby. I smiled. She'd probably make an amazing mommy one day.)

Shayne: What are you thinking about, Michael.?

Michael:(Snaps out of it) What, huh.?

Shayne: You looked like you were in deep thought about something

Michael: Oh, it was nothing

Shayne: You sure.?

(I nodded. Cyn crawled out of Shayne's arms and back over to the other babies. I stood up and helped Shayne up too. We walked out of the cage and continued walking along the pathway, which led us to the backyard/pool area.)

Shayne: How long have you actually been living here.?

Michael: About 5 months

Shayne: Where were you living before.?

Michael: With my parents

Shayne: Oh

(We walked passed the pool and out into the pasture.)

Michael: This is my favorite thing about this whole ranch: The wide open pasture

Shayne: Its breathtaking.!!

Michael: I've written about 30 songs out here

Shayne: Cool

(We walked back into the house and into the kitchen.)

Michael: And the final stop of the tour, the kitchen, which is where I am most of the time

(She giggled and I smiled. Her laugh was......intoxicating.)

Shayne: Thanks for the tour Your home is amazing

Michael: No problem (Sighs) Have you seen your room, yet.?

Shayne: Yeah Julie showed me

Michael: Good, good

(We stood there in another awkward silence.)

Shayne: I should....go upstairs and finish unpacking

Michael: Alright

(I watched as she turned around and walked up the stairs. I sighed. God, please give me strength.)

Shayne's POV

I walked up the stairs and went into my room I opened my suitcase and started to put my clothes in the drawers All of a sudden, I heard a knock on the door

Shayne: Who is it.?

Julie: Its me, Julie

Shayne: Come in

(The door opened and Julie walked in She on the bed, next to my suitcase)

Shayne: What's up.?

Julie: I just wanted to make sure that you were getting settled in alright

Shayne: Oh yeah Im fine

Julie: So, how'd it go with Mikey.?

Shayne: It was fine He took me on a tour of the whole property

Julie: Did you like it.?

Shayne: Yes, I did......Julie.?

Julie: Yeah.?

Shayne: Why do you call Michael "Mikey".?

Julie: I met Michael about 10 years ago when he was working on The Wiz I started calling him Mikey as soon as we got close

Shayne: Oh ok

Julie: You like him, don't you.?

Shayne: What.?! I just met the man two days ago.!

Julie: But you like him Its ok.....He likes you too

Shayne: You think.? How do you know.?

Julie: I've known him for 10 years and been his assistant for 5......I think I know

Shayne: Well, Im not here for a relationship.....Im here to take pictures and that's what Im going to do
