CHAPTER 6           I DID IT FOR LOVE

*Abby's p.o.v*
     It was Saturday, not too hot but cloudy. I arrived at Mona's house at 12noon. I pressed on the door bell several times until finally the door was opened. "Abby!" Mona shouted giving me a light hug which I returned. I smiled. "come on in " she added and I went in. It was a good thing uncle David was not at home if not I doubt if he will ever let her go with me. He acted like he owned her.
   "Hey!"I shouted as I saw Nicky. She ran towards me and hugged me tightly. I kneeled so she could have more access. She then kissed me on my left side cheek which I returned to her forehead. "I missed you baby" I said ' I missed ya more!' She wrote on her tab. We all chuckled. "I'll just get my purse" Mona said heading to her room. Nicky ran to the dining area to get me a glass of water. That was so sweet of her! She handed the glass over to me and I willingly collected it smiling widely at her. I wish she were my sister I thought.when Mona returned, her mom came out from the kitchen and I greeted her. We asked for her permission and she allowed us to go giving us limited time. " be home by 5 ok? No excuses Mona" she said and we nodded "yes mom" we answered in unison.
Nicky ran to Mona and held her hand shaking her head 'no' "baby we won't be long I promise" Mona said but she wasn't ready to listen. "Dant go please daddy might cam back"she wrote hurriedly " no baby he wont hurt you" Mona replied cupping her cheek. " you can't be sure juz take me with ya please" she wrote amidst tears. She looked at Mrs David like she was waiting for her to say something " take her with you Mona" Mrs David said and Nicky raised her hands hurray and left out a soft chuckle " ok mum" Mona said holding hands with Nicky who held her Tab closely to her chest like her life depended on .actually it does depend on...... I mean it's her only means of communication... "take care you guys" Mrs David said " we will" I replied as we head off. Nicky couldn't hide her excitement. It was too obvious.
      The restaurant we dropped by was a medium sized one. It was coloured coffee brown and off white and was surrounded by trees. it had it locally made parking lot which was by the corner. We got off the cab as Mona led the way.she spoke to some few employees before she finally signalled us to sit and wait.
Minutes later I was in for the interview in her bosses office and when I came out I couldn't hide my excitement also. I got the job and above that I got a new place I could move in to . It's three thousand five hundred per month. I just need to see the place and then I'll be moving in probably by tomorrow or so "this calls fir a celebration" I said and Nicky clapped happily. "So where does my baby want to go?" I asked brushing away the few strands of hair that blocked her right eye. "I just want icecream" she wrote "ok let's go have one" I said " Abby are you sure?" Mona asked  "Mona! I'm sure besides I'm very thankful that you helped me in getting this job if I'll surely be stranded you know" Abby said holding my shoulder I smiled and looked down at Nicky whom was yawning already. " Ok let's go it seems Nicky's sleepy already" Mona stated and we left for the icebergs- icecream parlour.

Mona's p.o.v
        When Nicky and I returned home, we walked through the gate and to the door. We paused only when we heard my mom crying and begging David to stop what ever it was he was doing to her. I held onto Nicky's ears so she couldn't hear. Now that she's starting to speak David can't ruin it I thought.but she already heard and there was nothing I could do. She kept crying and pointing at the door, but I didn't move an inch. "Didn't I tell you never to let them out of your sight?!" David shouted "Isn't it enough that I allow Mona go to school huh?" He added "please David let me go you're hurting me!" My mom cried. I barged in holding Nicky behind me." Let her go dad please!"I begged heading towards her praying to get hold of her but in returned, he slapped me hard across my face until I fell to the floor and hitting my forehead badly that i began to bleed. Nicky rushes to me holding me in her little hands." You brat!" He shouted pointing at Nicky. Her grip tightened on me due to fear of what he might do to her. "No please leave her out of this I beg you"I cried but he only smirked "this is all my fault please punish me instead Nicky's done nothing wrong" I added "oh so now you admit huh?" He said between laugh "come here you!" He said dropping Nicky carelessly and pulling me up by my hair as I groaned in pain.   That evening, I sat in a dark room alongside my mom and Nicky. Nicky cuddled on my body so weak that she had fallen asleep."mom are you ok?" I asked " I'm so sorry my dear, this wasnt the life I wanted for you.... please forgive me" she said whimpering "shhhh.... mom cry no more for you're only hurting me the more ..we're all going to fight through this ok? We have been doing that four years right? We won't give up just now" I replied and she continued to whimper.
