Not that! ....I can do it!

A few days after waking up Jackson was lying in the infirmary starring at the ceiling counting the dots on each tile. "167....168....169.....200. That makes 200 for that tile 235 for that one and 432 for that one. How many will be on the next I wonder. GAHHH!!! Someone. Anyone please either knock me out again or take me out of this room before I go completely crazy!" Jackson yelled after he had counted his third tile. The door opened while Wendy and Porlyusica walked in. "You're very loud for this hour in the morning. This is the reason why I can't stand humans." Porlyusica said as she checked his vitals while Wendy was getting something out of the closet. "Your back is still pretty bad but that should heal with time and therapy. So you can leave here." Porlyusica said as she started to disconnect some of the machines. Jackson smiled till he saw what Wendy was getting out. "Please not that. Just give me crutches I'll drag my legs if I have to." Jackson said as they brought the wheel chair next to the bed. "You can't do that Jackson your missing an arm. So please let us help you." Wendy said as she used her secret weapon. "Nope you can't make me look at your eyes. I wont fall for it this time." Jackson said as he turned his face back to the ceiling. 

After hours of trying to get him into the chair Porlyusica gave up and left the room while Wendy kept trying to get him in the chair. "For the 20th time I'm not getting in that chair." Jackson said as he crossed his arm and stump. "Please Jackson you can't stay in here forever. What about everyone waiting for you out their?" Wendy said as she pointed to the closed door Jackson looked out the window and saw the kids playing outside. "Fine could you slid it closer to the bed please." Jackson sighed as he got into a sitting position Wendy smiled as she brought over the chair. Jackson pushed himself up and slid off the bed and missed the chair with a thud.

Wendy ran over to him. "Are you okay? Here let me help you." She offered as he pushed her away. "I can do this." Jackson said as he tried getting into the chair knocking it over. After the first attempt Natsu looked at the door then the second attempt he heard the chair fall over so Natsu ran into the room to see Wendy fixing the chair as Jackson laid down on the floor. "What happened?" Natsu said as he sat next to Jackson. Jackson turned his head to look at Natsu. "Where's Lucy? You two have been attached at the hip since I woke back up." He said as he pushed himself up to a sitting position on the wall. "She went on a job with Cana and Erza. They should be back tonight. Now lets get you up and out of this room." Natsu said as he helped Jackson into the chair much to Jackson's displeasure. "Can you please help me outside?" Jackson asked as Natsu pushed him towards a table then turned him towards the back door.

When they got outside Natsu put Jackson under a tree. He then sat down next to him they sat their watching Nashi and the other kids play. "So Jackson there is something I've wanted to talk to you about." Natsu said as Jackson looked at him. He pulls out a ring and gives it to Jackson. "So your finally going to ask her? Gotta say it took you long enough." Jackson said handing Natsu the ring back he looked at Jackson like he was crazy. "So are you giving me permission?" Natsu asked as Jackson looked at him and nodded his head. Natsu got up and started to run around and play with the kids."Hey calm down for a second. How are you going to ask her?"Jackson asked as soon as Natsu calmed down. "Well we could all go on vacation somewhere. Maybe a resort. All six of us. You, Cana, and the kids" Natsu said as he thought.

The kids were playing soccer when they kicked it and it landed next to Jackson. He leaned over and picked up the ball and threw it back towards them. After a while most of the kids were tired the only ones left were Nashi and Levy's kids. "So do you want to go back inside." Natsu asked Jackson he just shook his head. "Nah I'm enjoying the air." A few hours later Jackson was still outside watching the sun set. Someone draped a blanket over his legs as he sat their he turned around to see Cana. "Thank you Cana. How was the job?" Jackson said as she sat with him. "It went fine we just had to escort some cargo. Nothing special." Cana said as she rubbed her back. "How about we go home then we can talk more when your in a better chair." Jackson said as they rolled back into the guild to get Morgan. They saw her hanging out with Natsu and Lucy. "Besides I have something to tell you." Jackson said as they got closer to the table. "Morgan were going home are you ready?" Cana asked as they reached the table. "Sure mom lets hit the road." Morgan said as she closed her book.

The three of them walked back to their house just as the sun completely set. Morgan ran up to her room as Cana sat on the sofa as Jackson climbed out of his chair and sat next to her. "So what happened while we were gone today?" Cana asked as she turned on the TV. "Natsu helped me get into the chair, then got some fresh air, threw a ball back to the kids, Natsu asked me for permission to marry Lucy, and he wants all of us to go on vacation so he can propose to her." Jackson said nonchalantly "WAIT! HE ASKED WHAT?" Cana shouted (At the guild) "Did you guys hear something?" Mira asked after she heard Cana. (Back to Cana and Jackson) "Which part are you referring to the vacation or the marriage?" Jackson said as he turned the TV off and climbed into his chair. "The vacation.... The engagement obviously. What did you say?" She asked as she helped Jackson up stairs.

They got up to their room and sat in the bed. "I gave him my blessing. He is good for her and Nashi. Plus it's up to her really." Jackson said as he changed the bandage on his arm/stump. He turned over to see Cana was already asleep. He got under the blanket and read from a book.

Cana was lying on the ground when she woke up from the sound of explosions. She sat up and looked around. She saw the field on fire and explosions going off she then saw Jackson get blown up. She ran over to him. "Jackson.... Jackson wake up!" She yelled as he opened his eyes. "Cana? I'm so glad your safe." Jackson said as he touched her cheek as he coughed up more blood. "I should go now.... quietly for my bones have found a place to..... lie down and sleep....." This was the last thing he said as his hand fell down leaving a trail of blood. "Jackson? Jackson this isn't funny! Come on wake up!" Cana shot up screaming which woke Jackson up.

"HONEY Whats wrong!?" Jackson said as he looked at her. She turns to look at him and buries her head into his chest. Jackson sits confused for a second then strokes her head. "It was just a dream whatever it was it wasn't real." Jackson said as he pulled Cana's face up. "It was awful I was laying down in a field then everything w-was on fire and exploding. Then I saw you get b-blown up and then y-you died." Cana said as she cried. Jackson just let her cry it out and when she calmed down he kissed her. "Don't worry I'm not going anywhere. Now lets get some sleep." Jackson said as he pulled Cana close to his chest as she wrapped her arms around him. He tucked her head under his chin as they both closed their eyes "I love you. I wouldn't do anything that would leave you alone. I promise." Jackson said as Cana fell asleep without so much as another bad dream.

The next day Morgan went ahead of Cana and Jackson and picked up Nashi on her way to the guild. Cana and Jackson had walked into the guild together and sat at their usual table when Natsu and Lucy walked up to them. "Morning guys. We have something we wanted to ask you two." Lucy said as Natsu went to get them breakfast. "Sure what is it." Cana asked. "Were going on vacation and we wanted to know if you guys would come with us?" She explained as Natsu came back with food for all of them. Jackson took a cup of coffee and looked at Cana. "What do you think? Cause it sounds like fun." He said as he set down his coffee mug. "Sure. When do you guys want to leave?" Cana said as she ate her chocolate covered pancakes with peanut butter and pickles. "How about we leave a week from today?" Lucy said as she started to eat her waffles. "Sounds good. Don't forget to tell the kids to pack some summer clothes the place were going is by a beach." Natsu said as they left to go pack for the trip.
