I sat on the edge of my seat, until I couldn't sit any longer. She was finally waking up. Derek stood on the over side of the bed, watching with curiosity. I didn't understand how he could be so calm. Lise was actually waking up in front of us! Was she going to be mad? Upset? Insane? Happy? Sad? Suicidal? Homicidal? No it wasn't her style, dead or alive. I had way too many thoughts circulating in my head, but I pushed them out as she finally opened her eyes.

Lisa scanned the room, her eyes temporarily rest on Derek, before finding me. Then she did something completely unexpected, she squealed and hugged me tightly and it was a good job I no longer required oxygen.

"I'll leave you two alone." Derek smiled, leaving quietly.

"I so glad to see you!" She squeaked, making me feel overwhelmingly guilty.

"I know, I'm glad to see you too, but Lisa, what's the last thing you remember?"

"Well I was just leaving the library when I saw you and some other vampires attacked... It kind of gets a little fuzzy from there." She shrugged. Oh god. She didn't even remember getting bitten.

"Lisa I... er... You're a..." I was speechless. How the hell could I tell my best friend that her life as she knew it was officially over, forever.

"What is it?"

"You, er, you got attacked and... I couldn't do anything..."

"Cordelia your killing me here."

"No I'm not. Because you're already dead."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"You're a vampire now. Like me." I sighed, looking down in guilt. I couldn't look her in the eye. No way.

"Oh... I..." She trailed off. Looking at herself. She studied her skin closely. "How?"

"You got bit and I... I was too late to save you. I had to make a call I guess. And now..." I cringed, finally realising exactly what I condemned her to.

"Well it's a good job I've never been a fan of getting tanned then huh?" She smiled light heartedly.

"Are you mad?"

"I'm... Shocked. But not mad." She shrugged frowning.

"You understand what this means? You'll never age Lisa. Are you sure you're not mad?"

"I'm sure. I mean it kind of sucks but after you left it was horrible back there. I would rather be here right now than stuck over there. Rory had started to act all possessive, the wolves went crazy after vampires attacked. It really sucked without you around." Lisa shrugged. I knew she hadn't thought about the part where she would need blood to carry on living, but for now I decided to just be happy that my best friend didn't want me dead.

"So why did you try and contact me?" I asked.

"Well... I don't know. Things just seemed really bad around there without you. Rory was out of control and I needed you. I mean it's not like the wolves got worse, until the vampires attacked but it was like I noticed how bad it was when you left. I just wanted to see you again." She shrugged. "You're like the sister I never had."

"Aw I love you!" I squealed, hugging her tightly.

"I know. Now can I have a tour?" She grinned. I nodded leading the way out of Derek's room.

I wasn't much of a tour guide considering I had barely seen any of the palace myself. In the end we more or less just explored together until we started to come across areas we recognised. After an hour we finished wandering around and decided to head back and wait for the others. More and more vampires were returning and I figured it would be best that they didn't all realise I had been there nearly the whole time. I did consider going outside but I didn't want to worry Charlie with everything else he had going on.
