Chapter Three
✯
"Do you even know where we are?" I growled from my fairly comfortable place on the arm of a fancy chair in a hotel bar.
"Some sort of gun convention? To be completely honest, I wasn't listening when she explained the plan.." Enzo admits, seated in the chair that I clung to the side of, causing me to snort.
My eyes traveled around the room until they fell on Damon. He was conversing with an older man seated at a table.
"How can he do it?" I narrowed my eyes, "How can he just forget everything...every emotion- everything we've worked so hard to preserve?"
"He's Damon. I suppose it's just naturally easy for him to shut everything out." Enzo sighs, looking at me.
Enzo pats his leg, signaling for me to sit on him. "Come on. Let me take your mind off things."
I shot him a smile, getting up from my spot on the arm of his chair, slowly positioning myself onto his lap. I rested my head in his chest, as my legs swung over the side of the chair. "How did this happen? All was finally right with the world. I was healed. Everyone was safe."
"Sometimes bad things happen to good people." Enzo stroked my hair.
I grinned, "Someone's been reading Harold Kushner.."
"Well, there hasn't been much to do whilst we from take orders from a royal sea-creature." Enzo sassed, causing me to look up at him.
"Not much to do?" I rose an eyebrow, causing him to smile.
"Maybe a little.." Enzo smirked, as our lips met.
We continued kissing, causing me to move from my lounged position, and sit upright. I tossed my other leg over Enzo's, and straddled him in the chair. His lips found their way to my neck before I let out a laugh.
"Enzo, we're surrounded by people." I pointed out.
"Oh, don't be such a prude." Enzo muttered, causing my smile to grow.
His lips met mine once more before I pushed them away with my finger.
"We have somewhere to be." I acknowledged, hopping off of Enzo's lap.

"Why is he always napping?" Sybil's voice spoke up, referring to Damon asleep in a lawn-chair, causing me to roll my eyes.
"Maybe he's just tired of your bullshit-" I started, as I continued scrubbing the cement before Enzo cleared his throat.
The two of us were on cleanup duty. We had to rid the pool of any remains of Sybil's meals. I was in charge of scraping the blood off of the cement surrounding the pool, while Enzo used a long leaf-skimmer net to remove the victim's belongings.
"Easy darling.." Enzo cautioned, before he looked over to Sybil. "She didn't mean that."
"I won't take it personally. On the topic of sleep, however, I love keeping my new eyes open." Sybil started, as she got up from her lounged position beside the pool, "After you spend a couple of hundred years with little shriveled up eye sockets underneath where your eyebrows used to be, you take extra pleasure in using all the parts of your body."
Sybil began stroking her leg, causing her bathing-suit to ride up.
Enzo rolled his eyes, as my throat tightened. "If you think you're flirting with my boyfriend, need I remind you I could rip out your lungs with the blink of an eye." I widely smiled, standing up from my kneeling position, tossing my rubber-gloves to the side.
