Chapter 9: Saying Goodbye

FLASHBACK
The Sheriff of Mystic Falls tells one of her Deputies "hey, Tony! I'm headed home for the night. Could you do me a favor and check up on the Lockwood place? Carol called again. Another 5-Martini stalker sighting. Oh, and some teenagers are planning a bonfire off route 13. No one's called to complain yet, but they will. See you."

He says "see you, Sheriff" he walks the other way while she heads to her office. She walks into her office, then the phone rings.

She picks it up and the other person on the phone says "Sheriff Forbes? We have a problem. Meet me at Mystic Falls hospital" and Liz says "I'll be right there." She hangs up the phone and heads to the car.

Liz walks into the hospital and walks up to the Policeman and asks "hey, what happened?" The Police Officer answers "accident up at Wickery bridge. Driver lost control, careened off into the water."

Liz asks "any other casualties?" And the Police Officer answers "two." Liz asks "survivors?" And Police Officer answers "one. We found her up on the bank unconscious. She must have crawled out of the car and passed out."

Liz sees the paramedics rushing a teenage girl to the emergency room and Liz immediately recognizes the girl. She states "Elena Gilbert. Where's her brother? Who are the casualties?" And the Police officer answers "Miranda and Grayson, her parents" Liz feels as though she can't breathe. She just lost both of her best friends.

Riley's POV
Gabby, Kol, Hayley, Jeremy, Gage, Greg, Hope, Nik, and I are now in Mystic Falls to see Sheriff Forbes. Apparently, when the gang had Kai held down, he managed to siphon all the magic that was keeping the vampires out of Mystic Falls. So, we can now freely enter Mystic Falls.

I remember how when I came back from Orlando, Florida with Nik and Gabby, she was the only one who was nice and kind to me, besides Nik and Gabby.

She actually spoke to me, saying "if anyone was in your position, they would have done the same". Jeremy says "Matt just texted me, saying how they're at the Mystic Grill" Me, Nik, Hope, Hayley, and Jeremy are in Jeremy's car, while Gage, Greg, Gabby, and Kol are in Kol's car.

When we go back, we will drive back with them because after he sees Sheriff Forbes, he's going back to school. I text Gabby letting her know to have Kol go to the Mystic Grill. When we get there, Jeremy parks and we get out and I grab Hope and put her in her stroller and go inside with the others.

Gabby is a little farther behind then the rest of us. I want to wait for her, but I just leave her be. I know she's thinking about Jacque and how she and Kol lost him.. again. When we get in, Jeremy is the first one in. We hear Alaric say "hey, Jer! How's school going?" And he says "pretty good, but I've also noticed a little too much havoc in New Orleans" he looks at him in confusion.

The rest of us walk in and we see Matt and Ric there. They look at us in shock, then Gabby, Greg, and Gage move up in front of us. Matt and Ric say to them "hey guys" Greg and Gage wave at them and say "hey" Gabby just waves her hand and walks over to the bar and grabs a bottle of wine and pours her some in a glass and drinks it.

Ric and Matt frown at her in confusion and concern. Jeremy sighs sadly and says "explain later. But, listen, I got to go back to school tonight. So, I won't be in town much longer. Riley wanted to come see Liz as well and this little baby is her and Klaus' daughter, Hope. I know, I told you she was dead, I'll explain later. Klaus, Hayley, and Kol are here to be moral support for Gabby and Riley."

Kol rolls his eyes in annoyance and goes over to Gabby and rubs her shoulders as she drowns her sorrows in wine. Matt says "okay. Well, to celebrate you're new school and Riley and Klaus' child being alive, let's drink up. I'll get the booze."
