Chapter 28: Fight for My Family

A/N: I got the new chapter in as quickly as I can. I'm now finding more time to write. I hope you guys have read the prologue of my book. If not, it's called "The Journey Of Moana Maxwell". The prologue is posted and you can read the description to see what it's about. I hope you like it and this chapter. And if you're wondering, yes it's another TVD fan fiction, but I have spiced it up a bit with my new character. Enjoy!

Flashback~ Five Months Ago

Riley and Klaus are on the rooftop, watching the night view of New Orleans. Riley is laughing and playfully hitting Klaus at a joke he just said. Klaus states "Oh come on, sweetheart. You and I both know Kol couldn't cook to save his life. At least, I bothered to learn. He just better be lucky he has Gabby there to help him. And don't even think for one moment he could even do art. No one in my family can. Just my father and I."

Riley scoffs and responds "Geez, Nik. Way to gloat and show lack of sympathy." Klaus shrugs and states "Just who I am love. I express what I can do. I don't care about what others do or don't do. What happens to others does not effect me."

Riley scoffs and says "Uh-huh. So, you're telling me you wouldn't care at all? You just hold it all in? Show no care in the world about what happens to another person?" Klaus responds "Yes, sweetheart."

Riley speaks up "I don't believe that Nik. You have feelings and you have sympathy. You just hide it. But mark my words, there's gonna come a day, you won't even bother hiding it."

Klaus scoffs and states "I doubt it, little wolf. See, what happens to others is a misfortune of their own, therefore not effecting me one bit. Unless, of course, I am the cause of the misfortune, and I still don't give a damn."

Riley states "No, I think you sometimes do... you're just great at hiding it." Klaus scoffs "Please. I don't think so. You know the man you married. That's just how I am." Riley scoffs "Yeah, I know exactly what I married. And I know deep down, you know I'm right. It's no matter right now. I hope it's a long time before I'm proven right, darling." Klaus chuckles and pulls Riley into a passionate kiss and she kisses him back.
End of Flashback

As Klaus watches as his wife, the woman he loves, cries in hysterics over what has happened, his heart breaks. All he can hear is the bone chilling screams coming from his wife, as she cries over Camille's dead body. Klaus goes next to her and takes Hope out of her arms.

Klaus tries to calm Hope down and he asks "Riley? Riley sweetheart? Listen to me, tell me what happened? I need you to tell me what happened my love." Riley hears him, but she can't take her eyes off of Cami's dead body.

Klaus holds her hand and encourages her "Riley, sweetheart, talk to me. What's happened?" Riley sniffs and tries to calm down so she can explain what happened.

Flashback
Riley wakes up from the sound of glass breaking from Hope's nursery. She squints her eyes in confusion and looks to see Klaus still asleep with his arm wrapped around her waist.

Riley carefully removes his arm from around her waist so she can go check on Hope. Riley gets up after she successfully gets out of Klaus' grasp without waking him. She picks up Klaus' shirt and puts it on, so she's not too indecent.

Riley then hears Hope say in a tired voice "Mama?" Riley immediately runs to the room and when she gets inside, she stops dead in her tracks seeing Cami there hovering over Hope's crib... with a knife behind her back.

Riley can feel her eyes turn amber gold from her wolf gene, and her vampire features show right after. Riley vamp speeds to Cami and pushes her away from Hope's crib. Cami falls to the ground, grunting in pain.
