Mikes pov
I walked up the stairs to els room. I get nervous. I finally reach els room I knock slightly. There's a pause then el opens the door. " h-hey el..." el has that bright smile on her face. " hi mike " she joyfully says. I pause and I say " uh do you want to go to the... dance ". Shit I shouldn't have said that she's going to- my thoughts get cut off when el smiles and says " yes ". I sigh and relief and she hugs me, I blush and hug her back . I. Let go and turn around to see dustin,Lucas and will. "Uh are we interrupting something we can go if you want" dustin says while motioning towards the door. I shake my head and I say " you can stay".

All the boys had gone home and it was time for me to go to bed. I start cleaning up the d&d game. " mike...." I look over at El sitting in her fort. " yeah" I respond. She pauses and says " stay" . I process it for a minute and then say " o-ok". I finish cleaning up the mess and I go over to the light switch and turn it off. I blindly make my way to els tent. I then sit down and say " why aren't you sleeping in your room". El quietly says " I like the tent" . My eyes Ajust to the darkness and I lay down next to el. She smiles and lays down beside me. She looks at me and I look at her. She soon falls asleep and so do i.
- next morning -
I wake up and see el cuddled beside me. I rub my eyes and I relieze today's the day of the dance shit I think to myself I look over at the. Clock it's 5 am . Thankfully I have to get up at 7. I look back at el. She looks so peaceful asleep. She starts tossing and turning. She looks scared and she starts saying rather loudly " papa papa papa." I know who she's talking about. The bad men. She wakes up and starts crying. Now I'm no expert on what to do in these situations. I wrap my arm around her and I pull her close. She says "' mike ". I look down at her and say " yeah". She wipes her eyes and huddles closer to me and says" Will you leave me ". Slightly offended by the question I quickly respond " never". She looks down and says " promise " I smile and I say "promise"
