Chapter 6: Family Dinner

"Nothing Kailee, you're so nosey." Toni said chuckling as her mother gave her a look knowing she had to tell her soon.

"Well we are ready to eat so I came to get you guys." Kailee said as Toni threw her arm over Kailee's shoulder and they walked out. They walked to the table and sat down.

"Kenneth can you please say grace?" Mrs Evelyn asked Ken as he nodded his head and everybody bowed their heads, well everybody except for Bianca, she was busy typing away viciously on her phone being disrespectful as usual.

"Heavenly father we come to you in Jesus name, thank you for this wonderful meal we are about to eat. Thank you for the hands that made the food and may we bless those hands as well. " Ken prayed but Ms Evelyn couldn't keep her eyes closed she kept staring at Bianca who was busy on her phone like her dad wasn't saying grace.

"Amen!" Everybody said together and started passing the dishes filled with food around the table to each other.

"Bianca darling, I don't know if you sit with your phone at the table at your mother's house while you're about to eat and when you're saying grace, but this is my house and we don't sit with phones and be anti social. Put that phone away and grab a plate, everybody eats here." Ms Evelyn said sternly looking at Bianca waiting for her to protest, but instead she slid her phone in her jeans pocket and started dishing food.

Towanda avoided eye contact with everybody that was sitting at the table because they were looking at her looking for answers because of her child's behaviour. Toni thought she was a spoil brat that needed a good hiding, Towanda was embarrassed because Kenneth had told her time and time again that he needed to discipline Bianca, but every time she would just shrug him off and say her daughter was disciplined.

"Kailee since you're the baby and you're leaving for college with Tamar we should throw you a farewell party." Traci said as Tamar agreeed thinking that the adults weren't going to be around so they could do their own things.

"Yes and we should be there since it's our last time seeing you until the next break." Trina said as Tamar groaned and Toni chuckled.

"Cool, but I want to invite one of my friends." Kailee said nervously playing with her food.

"You can invite all your friends silly, you can invite more than one because it is your party after all." Toni said with a slight chuckle.

"Well it's a guy I've been seeing for a while now." Kailee said nervously and shut her eyes scared of the reaction her mother and father was going to give.

"Well I think that's great! You should invite him." Towanda exclaimed just to get under Toni's skin as Kenneth looked at her and then Kailee. He took in her features and furrowed his eyebrows, it was the first time he paid so much attention to Kailee's looks and she looked just like Toni.

'I thought she only had four sister's.' He thought but let it go when he heard Toni speak.

"I think I should meet him first before we just invite him to a party where we are going to be." Toni said looking at Kailee as Kailee gave Toni a perplexed look.

"Uhm... I would actually like my mother and father to meet him first and then my sister's can meet him." Kailee said as Toni's heart ached at what Kailee just said, and she couldn't blame anyone else for that besides herself.

"Kailee hunny, Toni should meet him first. Trust me it's for a good reason." Ms Evelyn said as Kailee gave her a perplexed look.

"But why?" Kailee asked as Toni and Ms Evelyn sighed and Towanda was itching to just blurt out 'because the bitch is your mother!', but she wanted to see how all of this was going to turn out, she was glad her daughter knew her real parents.

"Kailee please stop being inquisitive for once and trust me ok. Mothers know best." Ms Evelyn said moving a strand of hair out of her face and kissing her forehead.

"Ok mom, so is that a yes?" She asked as Ms Evelyn first looked at Toni.

"We have to first meet him to approve." Toni said giving Kailee a weak smile as Kailee gave her a huge smile in return.

"Imagine if Toni was your mother." Tamar said out of the blue as she, Kailee and Trina let out a chuckle while the rest of them sat as if it was true, besides Kenneth, Bianca and Towanda.

"Yeah right, she wishes." Trina said as they're chuckling ceased. Ms Evelyn gave Toni a stern look, she had to tell Kailee the truth sooner or later other wise the truth will come bite her in the end.

Toni and Ms Evelyn took the dishes to the kitchen and brought the desert out.

"I know mom, I'm going to tell her at her party, it's the perfect time, so if she's mad at me she's going to college so she won't have to see me until she's ready." Toni said as Ms Evelyn nodded her head liking the idea, she knew Kailee would be hurt, angry, upset, and confused. But she needed to know because the more time they waisted not telling her she was going to resent them for keeping this from her. Now the ball was in Toni's court and she has to decide what to do with it.

With so much going through her head Toni let out a heavy sigh after she told her mother what she was going to do. After sleeping with Kenneth she wanted more but she was going to refrain from doing that, she needs to remember that he is her sister's husband no matter how much Townada envy's her, she couldn't do such a thing, but so she thought...

Toni sat in her office looking straight towards Kenneth's, her door was popped wide open and kept staring, whilst holding her designer pen in her right hand.

Kenneth wrote away as he spoke to a client on his work telephone.

"Okay I'll be there with my partner Toni at 3:30 on the dot, try not to be late please..." Kenneth sincerely said smiling as he ended the call. He felt as though he was being watched and looked up and was met with Toni's pretty brown eyes.

He smiled and she smiled back, before looking back down and typing away on her MacBook. Kenneth chuckled, 'oh, how much I love that woman'. He got up and closed his MacBook and grabbed his car keys and suit jacket.

"May I come in?" Kenneth asked, causing Toni to look up at him and smile.

"Yes sure. What do you want?" She asked in the most nicest way ever. Kenneth stood back shocked and walked in.

"Mind coming with me? A woman called Salma just phoned to tell me that me and you were scheduled to meet her at 3:30 today–"

"Oh shoot! I totally forgot about her. I'm just so caught up in planning Kailee's farewell party." Toni said, placing her hand over her face.

"I totally understand." Kenneth said nodding his head, "speaking of Kailee, you told me you only had four sisters the day we started dating, what happened there. And than what your sisters said." Kenneth said.

Toni panicked she looked at him with her eyebrows raised.

"What did my sisters say?"

"The fact that you could be her mother. Could it be that Kailee's your daughter?" Kenneth asked, Toni stayed silent and panicked.

She wanted to come across as calm but it was taking all her strength inside of her. Kenneth looked back at Toni with his eyes shooting right at her, they grew bigger as he said...

"Could it be that Kailee's my daughter?..."
