Lance
Lance couldn't stop fidgeting with his hands as he waited outside his history class. Him and Margaret had decided to meet there once school had ended so they could work on his essay. He had never been the best at writing essays, but he had never gotten a score as low as he did. He hadn't known what to do so he kept the paper in his bag without further attmept. It had been worrying him all week, since he hadn't known what to do with it. He was just glad he had thought about asking Margaret, then had the courage to go through with it. He was so lost in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed her approach him. He felt her hand tap his shoulder, making him jump in surprise.
Looking over, he saw Margaret's face light up in a smile. He rather liked that smile. It showed a peek of her white teeth, a hint of a dimple on her cheek. Her eyes glinted in the light coming from the windows, and he couldn't help but notice his heart speed in the slightest. They had only known each other for a short time, but he couldn't help but notice these things.
"You okay?" she asked, signed beautifully. It looked like she had laughed, but he couldn't tell for sure.
"Yeah, you just scared me," he signed hesitantly. Before she could say anything else, he asked, "Where are we going to go? I forgot to think of a place." Margaret's eyebrows drew together as if she had to think hard about the question. He could tell she was hesitant to give her answer, hands moving slowly as she gave her idea.
"We could go to my house if you wanted to." She paused for a second before continuing. "My parents aren't home, I don't think they would mind." This suggestion brought a slightly worried expression to her face, but he decided not to think too much about it. He had to get this paper fixed, even if he didn't want to.
Lance offered a faint smile, trying to come off as comforting. "If you think that would be best," he signed.
Her eyes looked beyond his shoulder, a little distant looking. "I guess we'll go, then." She headed off in the direction she had been staring toward, not looking at him for a while.
