Lance
Lance had been home for a little while when his phone went off. He smiled when he saw it was from Margaret, but froze as soon as the content of the message displayed on his screen.
Margaret 3:57 pm
Is there any way you can come over? I need you. Please.
He stood up immediately, going to find his mom in hopes she could drive him over. It would be faster that way. He found her quickly and convinced her to take her over, though he didn't need to say much to do so. He just asked if she could take him to Margaret's house, and she easily said yes.
The whole way over, his concern grew more by the second. The text flashed through his mind more than a couple times. When he arrived to her house, he ran up to her doorstep and rang the doorbell twice. He waited for a whole minute before just opening the door. He closed the door behind him, looking left and right. He froze when he spotted her, pressure building in his chest.
Margaret was heaped in a pile on the ground, entire body quaking. He slowly took a step forward, almost scared of what he saw in front of him. Something finally kicked inside of him that caused him to walk up to her. He kneeled in front of her, placing a hand on her shoulder. She flinched, sitting up to reveal a tear stained face. Her eyes were swollen and red, bloodshot as more tears fell down her face. There was a cut along one of her cheeks that looked like it had bled not too long ago. She looked scared, like she might faint at any second.
Lance pulled her to him, hugging her tighy. He felt vibrations on his chest, and he was sure she was making some sort of sound as she cried. She was shivering like crazy, leaning on him like her life depended on it. He held her tightly, not willing to let her got. He didn't know what happened to her, but he knew that he couldn't let it happen again. He didn't even know who caused this to happen to her, but he couldn't let it stand.
For the time being, he just held her to him. He ran his hand over her head, smoothing her hair down. He felt the intense need to tell her something reassuring, but he couldn't do so without her looking at him. He just continued to hold her silently, wishing he could do more for her. After about twenty minutes, the vibrations had stopped and she felt more relaxed. It seemed like she was asleep. He pulled out his phone, sending a text to his mom to make sure she was still waiting outside. When he got the reply informing him that she was, he placed his hands on Margaret's shoulders. He held her away from him, looking her in the face. Her eyes were barely open, her face grim. He tilted her chin so he knew she was looking at him. Cautiously, he let go of her. She seemed like she was barely able to hold herself up.
"I'm going to take you to my house, okay?" he signed. She didn't react, only sat there, staring at him. Sighing, he stood up. He picked her phone up off of the ground, placing it in his pocket. He crouched down, putting an arm behind her back, the other under her knees. He lifted her up, taking her out of the room. He somehow managed to open the door to her house, closing it with his foot as he left. He walked to the car, opening the back door and setting her inside. Instead of sitting in the front, he stayed next to her in the back. He signed for his mom to leave, who looked rather concerned. He didn't know what happened to Margaret, but he was going to make things better.
