Margaret
It was Wednesday the next week and Margaret was walking to class. She hadn't thought much of the previous Friday, though their conversation had come into her mind a few times. She wanted to ask Lance about his assignment, but it probably hadn't been graded yet. That was what she thought, until she saw Lance running toward her with some papers in his hand. Her eyebrows drew together in concern when she realized he was smiling. She was still rather confused as to why he was running in the hallway of the school, though. He was receiving quite a few stares. All her thoughts flew out of her mind, however, when he reached her. He stopped abruptly, arms wrapping around her. A small squeak escaped her throat and she was suddenly rather glad he couldn't hear it.
Lance held her for a few seconds, leaving her embarrassed when thoughts of how good it felt to be in his arms filled her head. She even caught some of his scent, a faint herb-like mixture. It was really good. He finally let go, holding up a paper in front of him. She realized, belatedly, that it was his essay. Marked on the top was an A-, along with a brief note saying how much he had improved.
Margaret suddenly felt even more happy, a smile coming to her face. "Lance, this is great!" she signed excitedly. "I'm so happy for you!"
Lance shook his head. "I couldn't have done it without you," he signed back. "Thank you so much." His face softened a little, showing his grattitude.
"No problem," she replied. "But it was all you. Really."
"Well, thank you anyway. You helped me out a lot. I owe you one." And with that, he walked off.
