(Authors Note: Hey sorry I haven't been updating recently, work has been murdering me and I have been losing my mind. I am not feeling all that great so sorry if it is a bad chapter, I will try better and longer on the next one, also I am thinking about making songs/poems and posting them on my page er work space whatever it is called, anyway! lets get to it)

I swear I wasn't afraid, that scream belonged to a girl that just happened to be near by...I swear. I quickly jumped away from the mysterious voice that just happened to appear behind me, twisted around and tripped, falling right onto my ass. I yelped in slight pain and grabbed at my posterior, wincing and biting my lower lip, my glasses sliding off to the end of my nose. After a moment I finally regained my composure and realized I was staring at the legs of the stranger that was recently behind me, my eyes trailed up slowly until they rested on a face of a 17 year old boy with short onyx black hair and dark indigo colored eyes, he looked rather unpleased as we met each others gazes though. I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up a bit and goosebumps appear on my arms, I can't really explain it but; something about the boy just reeked of power. He glared down at me as i stared a bit dumbfounded at him,

"You are very easily frightened" He said with a cool demeanor, I am not sure why but that kind of pissed me off, i narrowed my eyes and threw my arms up,

"Hey! What do you expect after sneaking up on someone! Especially after this whole ordeal!?" I yelled then pointed at him after the 'ordeal' part. He looked unfazed and looked over at the burnt remains of the house; after a few seconds he replied nonchalantly,

"I expect them to know the difference between a legitimate haunting and a fabricated one if they claim to be a psychic"

I paused, trying to comprehend what he was talking about,

"W-what are you talking about?" I asked, slightly offended. I stood up and glared at him,

"Who the hell are you to say im 'claiming' to be a psychic!?" I yelled, Ive always hated when people told me I wasnt a real phsychi or I was only doing this as a cry for help or for attention.

Monk stepped between us and placed a hand on my shoulder, I looked up at him, trying to calm myself down, he smiled very slightly to reassure me then spoke up,

"Hey, It's ok, just calm down, this one over here is actually, so to speak, our boss" My eyes widened a little, how the hell could this...seventeen? year old be their boss!? I glanced behind monk at the guy, he started walking over to the use-to-be house.

"My name is Kazuya Shibuya, I own and run the company Shibuya Psychic Research, or SPR for short, other wise known as the potential employer mentioned by Mai." He looked over at me and continued,

"Now I am not so sure. You claim to be a psychic but you could not tell this was not a legitimate haunting" I took a step back to catch myself, I looked around confused but Monk and Ayako seemed completely fine, like they were in on the whole thing. Before I could ask what he meant he started speaking,

"This place was never a home for that family or even for the blood bath it claimed to bare, it actually is just an abandoned cabin that a logger crafted about 300 years ago. The forest itself is infact...haunted, but not in the type of way that we look at, there are only a handful of spirits here that roam aimlessly and bother no one." I stood there, trying to process this information until the sudden image of that demonic entity creeped into my mind,

"but, there was a demon in there! I saw it, I felt it! I mean...it felt...like it wasn't a demon but it radiated so much power, how do you explain that? it even shoved Monk out of the window!" I exclaimed as I gestured my hand to the shattered glass. Monk coughed, directing my attention to him, he rubbed the back of his head smiling nervously,

"Well, actually, that was me. I was the one who jumped out purposely to help make it look real-" he suddenly went flying five feet backwards after I struck him hard with my fist, glaring him down,

"You asshole! I was worried about you! plus you landed on me! you owe me big time now!" I turned on my heel and crossed my arms facing away from him making a 'hhmph' sound, I looked at Kazuya,

"You still need to explain everything else...how do you explain the demon?" without missing a beat Kazuya answered,

"That wasn't a demon, that was a shiki, a spirit captured and controlled by an omnyoji, although, it is not easy to see them, even as a pshycic. Can you describe it?" He asked, curious now,

"Uhm...it was really big...it had dark green scaly skin with large sharp claws and red eyes, like blood, it looked horrifying..." After that statement Kazuya looked at the man that was behind monk and Ayako earlier,

"Lin?" he asked, The man i am now assuming is Lin, nodded his head. I suddenly remembered the girl that told me about this place,

"If this place isn't aggressively haunted, and the demon wasn't real, how come a lady was injured by this place today? how come i heard a child crying?" My mind was racing now, Kazuya lifted his hand and made a 'come here' gesture, suddenly two figures stepped out of the trees and walked up to us, my eyes widened as I realized who they were. One was the woman I tried helping earlier but she seemed perfectly content, even smiling a bit and the other was Mai! Mai smiled and waved,

"Sorry (Y/N) it was Naru's idea! He wanted to be sure you were an actual psychic" she said rubbing the back of her head, Kazuya, which again I am assuming is Naru, spoke up,

"The lady you helped earlier is actually a friend of one of my employees, she volunteered to help with this plan, Mai was the one that did the crying, as you can see she is pretty childish so she pulled it off nicely-" Mai was about to protest until Naru continued "Lin here was the one who used his Shiki for the so called demon and other paranormal effects. Monk and Ayako were the ones I used for this little experiment to examine your abilities. Although it seems you lack in a lot of the criterias, I assume with more practice you should be a rather large help in my investigations, considering the fact not even a highly skilled psychic was able to see Lin's Shiki, so, congratulations (Y/N) you are now officially part of SPR, for now" He turned and started walking, Lin right behind him, Monk high-fived me congratulating me, Ayako clapped a bit, a smirk on her face, the lady laughed softly as Mai tackle hugged me happy there was another member on the team. My head was still swimming but all i could do was smile as to not distraught them all, but I just couldn't get the event out of my mind. There's no way there was no higher power in there...it just felt too...Overbearing.
