Lucy's POV
Things were going pretty well for me, I was finally keeping my grades up and I also started to hang around Fairy Tail more and more often. They kinda grew on me, and I would constantly find myself walking to their garage on more than one occasion a few days in the week.
Not that I'm complaining, I couldn't lie to myself. I enjoyed their company, they were fun. I still wouldn't share any personal stories with them, but they didn't care. I kinda felt like I belonged.
"Hey who knows the answer to question 7?!" I stopped staring at a familiar classroom ceiling and put my attention on Jet. He was freaking out because he didn't get his calculus homework done in time.
I found myself laughing rather than helping the kid. But it seemed Mira had the heart to help him out. A few seconds later I heard Jet as he praised her for being so manly.
"This is the third time this week that he keeps forgetting his homework," I commented to no one in particular.
"I don't think he'll ever change." I looked behind me to see Cana standing a few feet away. She walked closer and gracefully sat down in the desk behind mine.
"I'll jump off a cliff if he actually finishes his homework before school," I joked. Me and Cana laughed at my "promise" and quietly listened to the scene unfolding before us.
"I'll take you up on that promise of yours." I rolled my eyes before facing the person who spoke.
"Are you that stupid that you can't tell a joke, Levy?" I asked, smirking.
The bluenette glared at my insult. "At least I'm not stupid enough to to confuse my fractions as slopes," Levy grinned evily.
I lost my patience and pounced on her. We both wrestled around the room, trying our best to get the upper hand.
Who knew the most feared gangster would fight over something as petty as calculus homework.
...........
Lunch rolled around, I sat myself down at a picnic table outside. I was joined by a few racers not a moment later. I found myself secretly becoming happy whenever I noticed someone from Fairy Tail sit down with me. It was usually Mira, Natsu, or Gray that would sit at my table, followed by everyone else. Sometimes the table would grow so crowded that the group would connect two picnic tables together. It was pretty funny and I had a blast sitting with everyone.
However, that all seemed to abruptly stop when Gajeel approached our table.
"Hello Lucy," he greeted. I groaned in reply. "Would you mind if I ask a few questions?"
I was seriously getting annoyed by this guy, but I decided to give in. Maybe he'll stop once I do this. I waved my hand in a passive manner and agreed, "Fine, but if it's anything personal I'll kick your ass."
"Don't worry Miss Ashley, it's only a few," Gajeel replied. The table, full of laughing racers, grew a little quieter as they too wanted to hear the questions and my answers. "First question, Did you always live in the city?"
"Yep, all my life," I answered casually, picking at my food.
"I see," the reporter started writing in his small notepad before moving into his next question. "Second question, I assume you know the name, Leo the Lion. Do you, by any chance, work for him or have any connections?"
I was a little surprised at this question and was caught off guard. But I quickly composed myself and was about to answer in a spiteful tone had I not heard a commotion coming from down the table. I turned to see Mirajane rushing over to comfort Elfman, who seemed to be in some kind of distress. He was holding his head in his hands and breathing heavily. He also seemed to be muttering incoherent words.
