Lucy's POV

I ended up sleeping in a tree in the park, just like last week. Most days I sleep there, especially in the warmer months. But it was getting colder now and I only have a few more places that I could actually get some shut eye.

Trust me, I don't really like sleeping outside but if it means getting away from my step-dad then I'm all for it. Also, I like the silence. The stars are....beautiful....and everything seems so quiet that it feels like I'm the only one left in the world. Unlike my house where my drunk father watches TV and occasionally calls me out of my room to say what a worthless daughter I was.

So, here I was, yet again wandering the streets in search of anything. However, I had the distinct feeling I was being followed. So I waited until coming up to an alleyway. I casually walked in and looked around for anything to hide behind.

I spotted a pipe to my right on the side of a brick building. I ran over and quickly shimmied up the pipe and onto a window ledge just wide enough for me to crouch and observe my stalker.

I didn't have to wait long, the guy appeared in front of the alley in a very intimidating way. The street lights created a large shadow that creeped into the alley and the guy looked like he was in no mood for any games. He wore a light grey jacket and blue scuffed jeans, as well as black sneakers. However it wasn't the outfit that caught my attention. It was the gold colored arm band he wore on his right arm. And it was the design on the band that made me freeze.

It was the zodiac symbol of Leo the Lion. Both name and symbol belonging to the most dangerous gang leader in the city.

My stalker stepped cautiously into the dark alley and scanned for a certain thug that he'd never find. I smirked to myself at his antics as he looked everywhere but up. Now, the man had turned his back on me and, seeing no better opportunity, I jumped from my spot and right on top of him. He turned in time to see a boot fly at his chest. He landed on his back and hit his head on the pavement.

I stood and pressed my boot against his chest. However his face didn't show fear, it was like he was expecting something like this. I cocked my head to the side and put on my best glare.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

The man smirked, "Let me up and I'll tell you."

I stared at him for a while before giving in. I stepped back a bit as he got up and dusted himself off, I was still didn't trust the guy so I had my guard up in case he did anything even remotely suspicious.

"Leo sent me," he explained. "He has a message."

I scoffed, "Whatever it is, I'm not doing it."

"All he's asking is if you could join his gang," the messenger said.

"Sorry but I like being alone," I crossed my arms. "Besides I don't trust him."

"He doesn't trust you either," the guy said. "But that's what makes you both the best."

I shrugged, "It's still a no." I walked around him and out the alley. The guy called back.

"He could go after your friends and fam-"

I quickly cut him off and snapped, "Well it's a good thing I have neither." With that I left and didn't turn around. However, I did spot a black car, that looked too nice for this neighborhood, parked across the street.

..........

I decided to go to one of my favorite places, Club Azure. It was a secretive place that barely anyone knew. If you didn't grow up in this place knowing the right people, it would be easy to miss. I caught a bus to South Andrew, a street relatively close to the club, and started walking.
