Natsu’s POV
I don't really like to be chased by the cops, but then again who does? However, it's not like I can just snap my fingers and they'll go away. Nope, that's not how it works. I have to give it my all trying to get away.
Shifting gears on my car, I drove forward as a cop car appeared on my right. Oh joy.
I hit the gas and shot forward with the cop car right behind me. Great. I really did not want to deal with these guys today. I saw a side road and turned sharply to the left as the cop car started to drive next to me. Can’t let him see my face, or Lucy’s for that matter. Though she was a gangster, street racing has been becoming quite a problem these past few years and the cops are cracking down on trying to get us locked up more than anything.
So, as I turned, I guess I confused him. But only for a moment because now he made a quick U-turn and drove down the same side street. Not good. I think I went over a speed bump because my car flew up and me and Lucy hit our heads on the ceiling. She started to threaten me about killing me but I was too focused on escaping to give it much thought.
We were soon joined by another cop as we drove on.
This is just perfect. Though I was irritated, I was slightly happy at the chance to go through a chase. I love the adrenaline rush it gives me and so I find myself smiling a little whenever this happens, but I quickly catch myself and get my head in the game.
I turned on a main road and sped forward. I don’t think I can shake these guys off, I didn’t know these roads, but they did. So it would be stupid to try and outsmart them of they could just outsmart me.
“What to do….” I mumbled and tapped my right hand finger on the wheel. Lucy looked at me and kind of gave me this look as if I were a bit crazy. However, I had an idea.
….....
Lucy’s POV
Man this guy is crazy.
First it seemed he was doing everything in his power to put me through misery. He kept making sharp turns and he even went over a speed bump! And secondly, he kept mumbling to himself and smirked occasionally. But this wasn't an amused smirk, it looked pretty crazy to me.
I really wanted to pound him in the ground but that would mean ruining the chances of escaping the cops. So I decided that I would beat him up after this whole mess.
The cops were still hot on our trail and Natsu looked about as close to escaping them than a baby was at understanding physics.
“You gonna get away or are you waiting for an invitation?” I asked.
“Be quiet,” he told me in a mumbled tone and then became quiet. He had the most concentrated face it was almost funny. “I have an idea.”
By the way he said that last sentence made me worry about the ‘idea’ he had in mind.
He hit a few buttons on his GPS and the device ‘pinged’ and a blue dot showed on a lighter blue line, indicating that the blue dot was us. He then punched in a few numbers under the screen and our blue dot started blinking and following a yellow trail on the road we were on, it then turned off to the left.
“Mind telling me what you’re doing?” I asked.
“I’m gonna hafta lose ‘em,” he replied. I was about to mention that it was obvious but he continued talking. “But I can’t shake them off in this area, I don’t know the layout. I need to get to my territory so at least I’ll have a fighting chance.”
He sharply turned left and the cops followed. There were only three but I assumed more were on the way. He seemed to be doing alright though, he didn’t look flustered but almost relaxed and calm as he drove. As if running from the cops was so natural that he didn’t pay any attention to it.
I’ve gotten into my fair share of police troubles, but nothing like a street racer. Gangs aren’t really that important but the Racers were a big problem. Especially when they destroyed city property with their races. I’m not saying I’ve never vandalized, because I have, but Racers seem to get on the cops’ bad side really quickly.
Finally after about twenty minutes of turning, braking, and taking a lot of detours, I started to recognize the area we were in. But that didn’t mean the cops were gone, in fact I’m pretty sure we had four with us now.
“Hey, you gonna put your plan into action anytime soon?” I asked looking at him.
“Tighten your seatbelt,” he answered. He opened the compartment between the passenger and driver seat to reveal a small red button. Without hesitation he pressed it and not a second later we shot forward and I hit my head against the backrest.

Natsu's POV
As soon as I hit that nitrous button I prepared myself for the jolt, however Lucy didn’t and she hit her head. I was gonna laugh but now wasn’t the time. I eyed my rearview mirror and saw the police cars slowly lag behind. Then they disappeared altogether. I was about to hit a turn but drifted at the last second and shot off again. The nitrous only lasted a good five minutes, but five minutes was all any racer needed to get in the lead or to out drive police cars.
Once the five minutes were up, I drove the speed limit and turned off my GPS. Don’t really need it now, I know this place like the back of my hand. We were going west and that area was close to where my apartment is, thank goodness.
“You can drop me off here now,” the blonde thug said. She seemed very tired and annoyed all of a sudden. I didn’t really want to argue with her about her tone so I pulled to a curb. She opened the door and looked over to me. “Well, it’s been fun but I gotta go now. We’re probably never going to see each other again.”
“Not really complaining about that,” I said and shrugged. However instead of yelling at me she only smirked in amusement.
Suddenly I picked up sirens off in the distance and then my radio created static and a voice was heard through it.
“Natsu! Hey ya there?!” It was Warren and he sounded really frantic. Lucy was about to exit the car but I grabbed her arm and tugged her back in, as she protested my actions I grabbed the radio and answered.
“Yeah, what’s going on?”
“The cops are still on patrol and they’re making their rounds close to where you are.” He answered. As he explained I heard the sirens get closer and closer.
“Sorry, but you’re gonna hafta stay with me for a while longer,” I said. The thug looked at me in utter disbelief.
“Are you crazy? No way, I can take care of myself!” I didn’t really care if she could or not, if she couldn’t then I didn’t want that on my conscience. So ignoring her, I hit the gas and we were off once again. But not after Lucy flew back and had to quickly close the door while I sped off.
Lucy kept giving me a glare that can eventually start a fire. I didn’t feel like talking but had to explain to her that these cops were not nice to anyone affiliated with racers.
“Look I’m sorry, okay,” I said. “But I don’t want anyone that hangs with my group to be caught by the cops.”
“This is what some people would call kidnapping,” she told me and still kept glaring. “Why do I have to stay with you anyway, the cops won’t find me.”
There was a pause as I tried to explain to her why the cops hated the street racers more than street gangs.
“It’s just complicated….” I said.
She sighed, obviously not satisfied with my answer but she stayed quiet.
……
We didn’t run into anymore cops but I heard them all throughout the time I was driving. I was nervous but I knew we weren’t going to get caught. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t worry.
I pulled into an abandoned auto garage, just one of the many hideouts my groups has. It was close to my apartment and I was really tired.
Lucy got out, stretched and yawned, “Man I’m tired. I really could go for a bed right now.”
I stayed in my car for a bit longer, I prepared myself for my change. Taking a deep breath I opened the car door and stepped out.
