"And now, a new and local group that will sure tug on yer 'eartstrings, The Beatles!" The announcer from the radio spoke with excitement, and I reacted with equal intensity.
"Oh not them. Again." My boyfriend, Tony whined from across our bedroom as he tossed a dirty jumper over his shoulder.
"Don't be so sour, Tony. Give the Beatles a chance, yeah? They're the local sensation! They 'ave a show at the Cavern tonight, would ye like to join me?" I asked my boyfriend with a demure smile, hoping to pull a positive answer out of him.
Tony groaned in annoyance, dismissing any thought of him attending the show with me. A frown tugged at my lips, not exactly surprised at his behavior.
"No thank you. I'm not goin' to waste any lick of my money on those Roaches, Lauren."
I sighed in dejection, watching Tony disappear into the loo without another snide comment. I rolled my eyes and flopped back into bed, listening to The Beatles' melody of sweet music.
"They deserve so much more attention than they get." I said mostly to myself as Love Me Do played softly, bringing me out of my Tony-induced frump.
"Love, love me do.
you know I love you.
I'll always be true.
So pleeeeease, Love Me Do." Paul McCartney sang sweetly into my ears, his voice a sweet symphony of love. With a jump, I rolled off my bed and walked straight into my closet with an idea running through my head.
I wasn't about to let Tony spoil the party, now was I? I picked out a simple blouse and a tight black pencil skirt to match with a cheeky grin. I slipped on some black flats and fluffed my hair. I went up to my vanity and touched up my mascara and eyeliner.
"Where are ye goin'?" Tony shouted as he noticed me picking up my things to head out.
Grabbing my purse with a smug smile, I tilted my head towards the door.
"To the Cavern. Don't worry, I'm sure our trusty tender, Mikey'll be there." I said as I headed out with a spring to my step.
I could feel Tony's face twist into a scowl, even from behind my back. It gave me an odd sense of pleasure at his dissatisfaction.
"Whatever."
I walked out and left the house. I pulled my keys out of my purse as I got into my car.

I got up and walked out of the studio with a busy mind and a craving for a cigarette. I patted my coat and pulled a ciggie out of my suit pocket, much to my relief. I sighed softly as I struck a match against a wall and lit my ciggie up and took a drag. With wandering eyes I scanned the nondescript and empty streets surrounding the studio until my eyes found a peculiarly wonderful sight.
I saw the most beautiful girl wander around the bend, her face apparently looking quite lost. Perhaps she was looking for something, or maybe someone. After a moment of me staring at her with wondrous eyes, hers met my own and lit up as she scurried up the block for what I would assume as a chat.
"Excuse me sir, I don'mean ta trouble you but I'm right mixed up. I'm looking for the Cavern Club?" She asked me politely, her round and beautiful eyes tracking me as I stamped out my ciggie.
"Of course. The cavern yes well its uh," I stopped myself from talking any further and actually took a decent look at her. My word.. the pretty little bird was a stunner. The sound of her voice was akin to the sound of sweet silvery bells in my ears; I could listen to her talk all day without a care in the world. I cleared my throat awkwardly and spoke again, hoping I hadn't spooked her too much.
"yeh er, The Cavern is right down a few blocks from here. Who are ye planning to see?" I asked, totally acting smooth as if I didn't just have a brain fart seconds before.
"The Beatles actually. They sing me favorite song, Love Me Do! In my opinion they're bound to be the next Elvis or Chuck Berry type!" She animatedly said, a cute little dimple appearing on her left cheek as she smiled.
The corners of my lips perked up a bit at the sight.
"Oh, I know the lead guitarist. I can show ye the Beatles." I said knowingly, watching the pitch of her excitement grow.
Her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.
"Oh that'd be lovely! Thank ye," She said, pausing herself, not sure what to call me.
"George." I filled
"George! Thank ye George!" She hugged me.
She was a tiny little thing, she was only at the end of my rib cage.
"Yer so tall George." She grumbled.
I laughed.
"And yer so small." I teased her. Whoa George, where'd ye get all this sudden confidence?
She giggled.
"We should hurry, they're getting ready to leave to the Cavern soon." I said.
We walked just for a minute or two and we walked into the hotel and I saw John, Paul and Ringo fighting.
"Oh I'm sorry isn't everythin' 'bout ye John?!" Paul barked.
"LADS!" I yelled.
They stopped their petty bickering and their eyes widened.
"George, who is this lovely bird ye 'ave 'ere?" John asked, winking at - oh I don't know her name.
"Um what's yer name love?" I asked nervously.
"Lauren." She giggled.
"This is Lauren. Coincidentally, she asked where the Cavern was and who the Beatles are." I winked at John.
Paul and Ringo stood up. John walked over to Lauren and kissed her hand like the
"Ya are in the presence of a Beatle, actually yer in the presence of all four of 'em," He winked at her.
Lauren's mouth fell open.
"Wha- But George said he knew them. He didn't say he was one." She stammered.
"haha. surprise."
