“Wait…what?” Roxas stared at his friend, or who was his friend five seconds ago. Did he just say what he thought he said? “Ven…what are you talking about?”
Ventus simply smiled at the two boys, glancing from their agape mouths to their disbelieving sea blue eyes. If they would just admit to each other, they’d make a cute couple he thought to himself. He took a deep breathe of hot afternoon air, “Well let me just come out with it straight, there’s really no point in skipping around the truth…well I’m your brother.”
Roxas’s eyebrows furrowed, his lips pursed in an absolute awestruck state, “No, no, no, no I have one brother. This can’t be true. Ven this isn’t something to joke about, my mom never said anything about you!”
“Hold on Roxas,” Sora voiced in, he placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder, “Ven never said who’s brother he was.” He turned to the other blonde, “Were you talking about me or Roxas?”
He chuckled, “I would think it was really obvious.”
Sora shook his head in disagreement, “No, are you mine or not? Because if you are…that would be great! Oh gosh it would be sooo cool to get another brother!” He smiled brightly, grabbing onto Ven’s hand.
“He’s not our brother.” Vanitas suddenly spoke. He smiled at the trio, his lip was busted and his cheek was bruised, “He’s yours Roxas.” His knees suddenly buckled and he collapsed, not before he was caught by Sora and Ven who held on tightly.
“Vani, I’ve never seen you like this before. You could usually take dow-“
“Yeah I know Sor,” the injured boy interjected. Ventus sat him down in his old spot and asked his new brother who seemed to just be standing there frozen to get the nurse and some water. Roxas grabbed Sora and the two ran to complete their errand.
“What happened?” Ventus asked, inspecting the purple-blue mark on their little fighter.
Vanitas flinched when his ‘doctor’ touched the area, “Seifer wasn’t alone apparently. Two other guys came out of nowhere and it was three to one. Now don’t get me wrong Ven, I took those two down, easy!” Ventus giggled lightly before he found those eyes again. “These were just lucky shots that jerk got in while I was taking care of his friends.”
“Does- does anything else hurt?”
Vanitas nodded, “I think he got me in the stomach.”
“Let-let me see,” Ven stuttered, he left his view of the shining gold and focused on Vanitas lifting his shirt to reveal a forming bruise.”
“That doesn’t look that bad, I’ll make sure the nurse makes you feel all better!”
Vanitas nodded sitting up, “I’m guessing they took it well?”
“I guess so, I mean who wouldn’t be surprised to have a new sibling?”
“Haha yeah, hey Ven…”
“Yeah Vanitas?”
The boy opened his mouth to say something but shook his head instead, “Never mind.”
“No tell me!” Ventus pleaded.
Vanitas chuckled, “One day, just not…now.”
Ventus sighed, “Fine…but hey I can see things turning for the better now!”
Vanitas cocked his head to the side, “What? What are you saying, Ven?”
Ventus placed his arm around Vanitas’s shoulders, “I can feel our lives get better from here.”
Vanitas nodded…trying to hide a blush.
