Vanitas stood awkwardly outside the Hikari household. His hands in his pockets as he whistled a soft tune. He had already run the doorbell a few times with no response. He tried it again and knocked on the door for good measure before sighing sadly.

“Vanitas? Is that you?” a voice that belonged to Ven’s adopted dad asked.

The teen turned around and spotted Terra in his car, his tinted windows rolled down, “Yes Mr. Hikari,” he answered.

“Oh hey! Are you here for Ven?”

“Yeah, we’re going to watch a concert.”

“Oh alright, well use the key under the plant beside you. Put it back though!”

Vanitas nodded in gratitude and found the key under the pot before opening the door. He reached out and put it back in its place.  “Ven?” He called out into the house. He listened carefully, but heard only the sound of Aqua’s voice probably in a meeting.

He ventured upstairs and heard a slightly muffled voice, he surged forward quietly and put his ear against the door leading to the source of the magnificent sound. He never knew Ven had a voice like this…damn. He heard the door unlock and he quickly sidestepped to the side, hidden from view. Ventus walked out, his hair damp and his cologne fresh.

He took a few steps forward before he felt a pair of arms catch him in a bear hug, “Boo!”

The blonde boy screamed before realizing who his attacker was that had let him go and started a laughing fit on the floor. He frowned, “Haha very funny.”

Vanitas wiped an imaginary tear from his eye, “Oh it was, haha. It was definitely. Are you ready yet?”

“Give me a sec, let me put on my shoes.”

Once Ven was finished getting ready the two head off for the Possibly Future. The two walked side-by-side, chatting about music, their brothers, silly times and whatever else they could think of. When they finally reached the restaurant, Vanitas rushed to open the door for the boy. Ven smiled and entered, thanking the gentleman.

The two sat towards the back, but were still able to see the small band preparing for their set. Vanitas looked over at the counter, “Hey Ven do you want anything?”

                “I think I’ll take a soda.”

                “Alright, be right back!”

Ventus stared at the boy again, this time without the requirement of those golden eyes. He just simply stared at him, he didn’t know why but to him it just felt right. He was brought out of his trance as the first note was sung on stage.

Vanitas turned and saw his friend Dusk starting her performance, “Whoooo! Go Dusk!” he cheered happily as he returned to their seats with drinks, “Enjoying the show?”

                “Wha-what?” Ven stuttered.

                “Are you enjoying the concert?”

“Oh that, yeah! Your friend is really good!”

After Dusk’s performance she bowed and thanked her audience for a good night. Vanitas pulled out his phone and texted her congratulations before turning to the blonde, “Do you want to stay for the rest of them?”

“Nah, I’m getting tired. Let’s head home.”

Vanitas nodded and the two stood and headed out, starting the trek back to the Hikari home, “I hope you had a good time.”

“I did! It was awesome!” Ven responded, shining him a cute smile.

                Vanitas nodded, chuckling at it.

                “What’s so funny?”

                “Nothing, it’s just…your face.”

                “What about it?”

“Your cu-“ He stopped himself before shaking his head, “Never mind.”

Once they got to his dimly lit porch Ven looked up at him, “Today was really fun!”

“Yeah, I agree. Um, goodnight Ven.”

                “Goodnight.”

“Wait,” Vanitas called out again, he had one foot on the gravel and another on the porch. Ven could tell something was up. Vanitas bit his lip and scrounge his eyebrows together in worry before he rushed up, grabbed the back of his neck and bonded their lips together.

Vanitas felt as if the whole world was shut out as clichéd as it sounded, that they were the only two people. But they weren’t.

A figure silently watched in the shadows, he watched the stunned Ventus being kissed by him. He watched as Vanitas pulled away and a sudden look of fear popped into his eyes. He watched as Vanitas ran away and Ven just plopped himself down on the porch stairs. He watched all this before disappearing into the darkness.
