"Oh officer he can just be so clumsy! He was on those phones that those kids have nowadays and he didn't see where he was going and then boom! He tripped down the stairs." Vanitas watched his mother lie to the Twilight PD officer. His hand gripped the metal of his chair hard and he breathed in deeply to calm his burning rage. His golden eyes narrowed at the woman and her sugared tone, no one could see past her façade when her acting face was on.
This wasn't the first time they've been in this situation. When their dad left she began her streak of terror starting with Vanitas. Leon had told him while he laid in bed with bruises all over that if it weren't for her being a demented bitch, she had a shot at an Oscar. That was before Sora came out and before Leon became her mindless drone.
"Is that it Ma'am?" The officer asked. He was an older gentleman, with a long white moustache and an extremely skinny figure.
"Yes, it's all just a silly mistake by Sora!" she explained.
"Well then, thank you ma'am. I'm sorry about your boy, I tell you it's these contraptions that have our kids blinded!"
"I agree, what happened to the simpler times hmm officer?"
"Perhaps we should ban the damn thing! It would make everything so much better, for everyone!" He suggested with a chuckle.
Vanitas watched his mother laugh heartily, he knew that this man would be the next man would be her next victim. He could recognize all the traits that meant she was flirting but did nothing about it.
As much as he wanted to, he couldn't just go straight to the authorities about their abuse. He knew that their mother had anticipated this so she had told them that if they did snitch her out, it would separate them. He knew their mother simply loved the bond between him and Sora, it meant he couldn't get any help for them. It was a mouse trap of her own devious creation.
When the officer finally said goodbye (and accepted her number) she smiled and slid the door closed softly. She giggled fanatically as she walked briskly to the kitchen.
Vanitas scowled, "You are so evil. Your own son, who you put in the hospital, is in God-knows-what condition and you're skipping around like its all some game!"
"Oh you're just sour because I let Leon get on the ambulance and not you!" she waived her son's protest with a flick of her wrist and twirled into the room with a last "ha!"
Terra sat in the break room of the hospital, engrossed in his tuna sandwich packed so graciously by his wife. Two of his colleagues sat near him immersed in a debate he had long since lost track of.
"I'm telling you, those natives believe it! They think Paopu fruit is a valid way to cure Jafar's Disease!" Dr. Sharrow insisted with a nod, his black curls bouncing with his head movements.
His counterpart shook his head, "There is no way ANYONE could believe that! Paopu fruit is good for what? Clearing up a few arteries? It won't cure severe fevers, jaundice and all the other symptoms that come with it!"
"I know that Sam! I'm just saying THEY belive it. I mean I wouldn't put it past them, they call it...umm...what was it? Terra! What do the natives call Jafar's disease?"
Terra swallowed the last bite of his sandwich, "Lamp Lock."
"That's it! Lamp Lock, due to the immobility of many joints in the last stages of someone's life after attaining the disease." Dr. Sharrow recited proudly.
Dr. Sam Rai chuckled, "Look at Mr. Medical Journal 2014."
Dr Sharrow frowned.
"Well gents I got to go, I'm afraid I have a patient in 365 who fell down the stairs," Terra wrapped up, taking his leave of the two Doctors. He walked to the elevator and pressed the three and watched the button illuminate.
"Cause I'm Happy! Clap along if you feel that happiness is the truth. Because I'm-
Terra answered his phone expecting his wife's usual how-are-you talk instead getting the frantic voice of his son.
"Dad I need your help, is Sora there?"
"What? Ven are you supposed to have your phone out during school I-
"Dad, this is important! Is he there?"
Ven I can't have this conversation right now," Terra exited the elevator and walked to room 365 picking up the clipboard on the door, "And if your mother knew that you had your phone taken away do you know how mad she'll get?" He read through the diagnostics before finally reaching the name at the top.
"Please I-"
"Wait."
Ventus waited anxiously crammed inside one of the boy's bathroom stalls with Roxas, "Dad? Are you there?" He heard something turn on the other side of the call and a gasp.
"Ventus, I-I... oh my God.
"Dad? What's wrong? What's going on?"
"I'll ask Aqua to pick you and the Strife boy up. There is someone here you both need to see before it's too late."
