"You're a pretty good kisser." Annabelle said as I put my arm around her.
"Well you've the first person I've ever kissed." I replied looking up at the night sky. There was something calming about the chilly air around us. France was also beginning to feel the winter approaching.
"I'm surprised that you liked me," I whispered. Never did I think Annabelle had feelings for me. "I thought you just wanted to be my friend."
"At some point, I think I began to like you Jamie. With your stupid best friend, funny antic. I found myself liking you. I think that's my confession." Annabelle replied, looking up at me.
"Then my confession is I've liked you since we first went on holiday. I don't know at what point."
"It doesn't matter." I touched Annabelle's hand and smiled. I wanted to kiss her again. I leaned in forward but this time she pulled away from me.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I like you Jamie yes, but what exactly are we? We've shared a kiss but where do we go from here? I haven't had a boyfriend before."
"I haven't had a girlfriend either. So we're both on the edge of the boat."
"I know, I just don't know if I'm ready to commit to having a boyfriend. How long will we be together? Will I look at you and one day be in love with you? Or will my feelings go? I'm just worried about the future."
"That's the future. This is now. So I'm asking will you be my girlfriend?"
Annabelle smiled then and laughed. "You're such an idiot. Of course I will be. Now come on the others are probably wondering where we got too."
I nodded and grabbed her hand as we walked back into the wedding reception where it turned out Teal had started to have her first dance with her husband. Ross and Brynn were watching them as we approached.
Ross noticed us first and saw us holding hands. "You two finally did it then?" He said with a wink. Brynn looked surprised. "Did what?"
"They both kissed each other and judging from the handholding the relationship is now official, if I'm right?" Ross asked.
"Yes we're going out Ross. Ever since about five minutes ago." I replied.
"You should go and tell your mother." Brynn mentioned. I froze up. I hadn't really thought about what my mother and Teal would say but I would have to tell them. Annabelle began to lead the way to my mother in the corner. She looked surprised when she saw us.
"You're holding hands? Am I guessing something's happened?" She asked.
"Yes, we are now girlfriend and boyfriend." I muttered, not looking at my mum.
"Jamie! I can't believe it. I'm happy for the two of you. Now you should go and tell Teal or else you'll never hear the end of it. Especially since it's her wedding and she wants to be in the spotlight."
"I will Mum." I promised, touching her shoulder and giving her a hug. Teal would want to hear all the news.
We approached her as the music began to slow and the two of them stopped. The dj began to play pop songs and children piled onto the dance floor surrounding the four of us.
"Hello Jamie," Teal said with a smile resting a hand on her husband's shoulder. He was a tall broad man who must have been a least 6ft, he had overgrown afro that he hadn't tamed for the wedding but it suited him. I couldn't really see him with straight hair.
"You haven't met my husband properly have you? This is Marcus." Marcus handed me his hand and I took it and shook it.
"Nice to meet you." I said shyly, avoiding eye contact.
