The next day, I was pretty much stuck In my room.
Alphys had told me that she had been working on a project that could turn monsters into humans, if they want to of course, so they could fit in better with human society, however, there are a few problems.
One: its only compatible with monsters, so humans can't be changed into monsters.
Two: Alphys has never tested it, and she would like either me or papyrus to test it, as our body's are the closet to a human anatomy, since we are skeletons and all...
Three: It's a one way, meaning if I chose to do choose to turn human, I won't be able to change back.
Not to mention all the other things that could go wrong from it. As Alphys said, it's never been tested, a prototype, so there is a chance this could all....blow up in my face....literally.
I sigh as I lay down on my bed and stare up at the ceiling. I never told anyone that Alphys had the machine, nor that she came to me to be the lab rat. This was my decision to make and I don't want to bother anyone else with it. They all have it rough, Frisk especially, with the scene the Purge was putting on to try and get rid of us monsters. Slowly but surely, they are getting more followers, and while we have friends in the political field, the Purge have more man power, and their actions at night make it to where most monsters stay inside after sundown. Frisk, Asgore and Toriel are doing everything they can to try and calm the monsters and to get more humans on their side. The party last night showed that some didn't mind us and actually liked us while their are some who can't stand us and want us gone. I can't add my problems to theirs, it wouldn't be good for them, and although I promised Frisk I wouldn't keep anything from her, I'm making an exception to the rule this time.
I placed my hand against my skull and I let out a deep breath. I need to take a break from all this thinking. I sat up and I grab my jacket, sliding it on before teleporting to Grillby's. I appear just outside the door and I open it, the usually busy bar was now quiet, with a few regulars here and there, it wasn't as busy as it was when the place first opened up here above ground. I walk to one of the stools and I sit in it. Seeing the man of flames himself looking at me, I smile at him
"Hey Grillby, can I get an order of burg with some Ketchup?" I asked while putting some cash down on the counter. Grillby nodded and went into the back to start the food while I lean on the counter and sigh.
I couldn't just get the thought of becoming a human out of my mind. There are pros and cons to it of course, such as being able to be closer to frisk without anyone interfering, however, I have no idea if this would actually work or if will turn me into something like those monsters in the hidden lab, or worse, make my existence on existing like my old man. Also, say that the machine did work and I became a human.....how would that affect me and my life? I would pretty much have to relearn everything about myself again. Sure I know about the human anatomy, but that doesn't mean knowing it and experiencing it are the same thing....
My thoughts were dragged out when I heard a plate being set down in front of me. I look up and I see Grillby looking at me with a questioning look. Ah good ok' Grillbz, he always knows when I am down on the dumps. I sigh and shake my head.
"Don't worry about me Grillby, I just have a lot on my mind right now and it's making me really tired. Hopefully this will be the pick-me-up I need" I said before grabbing the burger and sinking my teeth into it, eating and swallowing the food.
"...Sans...." I stopped eating and look up at the usually quiet bartender. He sighs and continues, "after you and Frisk started dating, things had been going well with you. You were genuinely smiling, your puns actually had a kick to them, and you just had this healthy look on you. You are still a lazy sack of bones, who never pays his tab, but hey. Knowing you, you will figure it out."
I looked at Grillby with a small smile. He was right, as usual. Since sweetheart and I had been together, things had always been finding their way through, so maybe it will be the same way. I place a stack of cash onto the table, making Grillby look at me confusingly.
"This should cover my tab. Thanks grillb." I wave to him and I disappear in a flash of blue. Leaving the Fiery Bartender in shock.
I appeared at my home, yawning a bit as I decided to take a small nap. All this thinking has left me tired. Good thing sleep is so easy, I can do it with my eyes closed, heh.
I laid down on the couch and close my eye sockets and let out a deep breath before drifting off into a light sleep, my dreams filled with the possibility of being a human and being with my sweetheart fully, to where no one would judge us.
I don't know how long I can was asleep before I felt someone shaking me awake. I open my eye sockets and I see Papyrus there, looking at me worriedly.....oh....that's right, I spent nearly the entire day in my room thinking about Alphys' machine.
"BROTHER, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" Papyrus asks me."Yeah, I'm fine bro, don't worry, just spent all day thinking." I answered with a smile
"THINKING ABOUT WHAT? YOU HAVEN'T BEEN LIKE THIS FOR AWHILE, NOT SONCE WE LEFT THE UNDERGROUND."
"Sorry bro, just had to think about a few things....hey pap..."
Papyrus looks at me. "YES BROTHER?"
"If I became a human...would you still see me as a brother?" I asked, rubbing the back of my head
"Of course. Sans, you and I will be brothers until the end of time, it doesn't matter if you are human, skeleton, or anything else" papyrus replied, with his unusual calm voice. "As long as you let me in and stop leaving me out of things, then I don't care hat you are, it's what's inside of you that matters."
I smile softly and look up at him "thanks bro. didn't mean to leave you bonely, I just had a lot on my mind. Sorry for being such a bonehead"
Papyrus sighs and smiles at me, "I don't know what I am going to do with you." He then stands up straight "OKAY! SANS I AM GOING TO BED, THE GREST PAPYRUS NEEDS HIS BEAUTY SLEEP! NYEHEHEHE!" Papyrus said before heading to his room to get ready for bed.
I blink a bit and pull out my phone and saw it was 10 at night, I chuckled a bit and realized that I slept a good portion of the day away. But I felt Better after talking to Grillby and Papyrus. Alright, I made my decision.
I waited for Papyrus to get ready in bed then I read him his bedtime story. Once he was asleep, I walk out of his room and teleported to Alphys lab where she was up and typing away at her keyboard, I grin a bit and walks up to her and whispers beside her head. "Boo"
Alphys jumps out of her seat and screams in a very anime like fashion, pressing herself against a bookshelf, grabbing the spot where her soul was. "Geeze S-Sans! Y-you nearly gave me a h-heart attack!"
"Sorry Alphys" I said between chuckles and looks up at her "didn't mean to be so cold blooded, but it was too easy."
Alphys sighed and rolls her eyes at my pun. "S-so....what can I do for you? A-are you here about becoming h-human?"
I nod and took a deep breath. "Yeah. I'll take you up on your offer Alphys, I'll become human...."
