As weeks turned to months, Maggie's baby grew a litte bit bigger. Maggie got very little food every week, and Connor didn't talk to her anymore. She was completely useless to him now.
On a cold day in December, Connor and Maria came into the basement and they had made their minds up about Maggie's baby.
"Look you bitch, we don't care what happens to your baby, so when you're five months along, Connor is going to do a C-section on you himself." Maria sneered.
Maggie's eyes widened, but no other reaction came from her, it was no surprise.
Maggie closed her eyes, leaving her sorrow behind her.
As Maria headed up to the kitchen, Connor following, he walked over to Maggie.
"Forgive me, Maggie. I don't want to kill your baby, but it has to be done. I hope one day you'll be able to forgive me for this."
Twenty minutes later, the front door closed and Connor and Maria are gone. They'd gone down to Rico's Club and Restaurant.
Maggie looked around the room and she saw that Connor hadn't shut the basement door. She looked up the basement stairs and saw the door wide open. Maggie walked up the stairs and she remembered the time she'd jumped down all of them to avoid getting yelled at by Connor.
Maggie looked down the stairs, for one last look at the place she'd been in for months. Maggie wandered the kitchen and she remembered where she sat when she was very ill and Connor had to feed her. She wandered the whole house and every part had a memory tacked onto it. As Maggie moved to the front door, she looked out the window and made sure that no one had pulled up in the driveway. No one was there.
Maggie opened the front door and walked outside; as she felt the chilly December air, she breathed a sigh of relief and watched her frosty breath. She never thought she'd enjoy the cold like this. As she walked down the front pathway, she turned around, and looked at Connor's house one last time.
After a few moments, she walked away. She turned left, toward where she lived many months before she was kidnapped. She thought about her parents and her big brother Carlos, Have they looked for me at all since I was gone? She wondered with emotion flooding her heart.
As Maggie strolled down into town, she was trying to get people's attention to help her, but no one even looked at her. She kept walking towards home, wherever that home may be. She wondered if she would ever see her mom, dad and older brother again. Would they accept her into her family again, with her being pregnant at the same time as her step-mother?
As Maggie continued walking toward downtown, she noticed a few guys who looked to be in a gang; she wanted to ask them for help, but she hesitated to do so.
As they walked past her, one of them turned around and told his guys to come back.
"Hey sweet thang, what are you doing here in the city by yourself?" One of them asked her, as he noticed her stomach, he knew she was pregnant.
"I can be the father of that baby of yours." He flirted.
Maggie backed away from them, but another one of the guys put her in a headlock and another held her arms down. "Let me go." pleaded Maggie.
The man that was flirting with her got a knife out of his pocket and opened it up, "Don't be afraid sweetie, this will only hurt a lot." The man hissed viciously.
Maggie's eyes widened and she wished that Connor was there to help her. She squirmed around in the men's grasp, wanting to be let go. She saw the same vicious look that Connor had in the man's eyes, the intent to kill.
