After a few days, Maggie had been feeling different and she wasn't sure why.
Connor had been seeing differences in her too, but he didn't know quite what it was.
On October twenty-seventh, almost two weeks had passed since Connor kidnapped Maggie. He found Maggie in his bed but she seemed sick or tired.
"Maggie, darling, what's wrong? You feeling alright?" he asked as he walked over to her.
When he got to the bed, he sat down and felt her forehead. "Hmmm, you don't have a fever." He then put his hand on her stomach.
Something didn't feel right there. "Maggie are you . . . pregnant?"
Maggie shrugged her shoulders, unsure about her answer.
"Come on, you're going to the hospital to find out." Connor said, picking her up.
Maggie sat still and let him take her to the hospital. When they got there, they waited in the waiting room for about twenty minutes.
Soon enough a doctor called Maggie's name for her to come back to a room.
Maggie and Connor went to room ten on the left hand side of the hallway.
"Doctor, we have a question. It's about Maggie." Connor said to him.
He replied, "What is it, Connor?"
Connor questioned nervously, "Is Maggie pregnant?"
"Well, we have to do some tests to see for ourselves." The doctor took Maggie to another room to do some tests to find out whether or not the teenager was with child.
Connor sat in room ten for almost an hour; soon enough the doctor returned and told him the news.
"Connor, she is pregnant." The doctor reported.
Connor's eyes widened but he was very happy that she was pregnant. He hugged her gently, to avoid squishing the baby.
"You may take Maggie home now." The doctor said kindly.
Connor asked the doctor one more thing before leaving, "Oh, Doc, how long does Maggie have to keep her stitches in her side?"
He replied back, "About another week until it's healed more."
"Thanks, Doc." Connor said, smiling.
Connor took Maggie home and hugged her again, happy for her. Then he broke the ice and told her something very frightening.
"Maggie, I can't let you have that baby. While you were getting better, I met another girl."
Maggie's eyes widened and she backed up into the wall, sliding down onto the floor and holding her stomach, afraid.
Connor walked over to her and crouched down in front of her.
"I know this is shocking for you but I just can't let you. I'm sorry."
He tried hugging her but she turned her head away, not wanting him to do anything else to her.
Connor tried to give her love, but she didn't want it anymore. He took her by the arm and returned her to the basement, tying her up to a support beam. Both of her arms and legs were tied together and he slid Maggie's pocket knife out of his pocket and slit the side of her neck.
Maggie sat there in shock, her eyes began to go blank, but Connor stopped the bleeding with his hand.
"You will learn this way. If you keep this up, you and your baby will die." He breathed cruelly.
He then stood up and went upstairs, leaving Maggie to suffer through the pain alone.
Maggie drifted into a deep sleep and forgot her pain, it was almost as if she was dying.
Hours later, Connor came home with his new girlfriend--a pretty brunette with light green eyes-- named Maria. He went to the basement for a moment and saw Maggie asleep; he walked over to her and tried to wake her up by shaking her, but she didn't wake up. He then tried slapping her face gently; she still didn't respond. Connor feared that she might've been dead; he placed his head on her chest. He heard her heart beat but noticed it was slower than it should have been. He looked over at her wound and saw it was still bleeding badly.
Connor then thought about how badly he'd been treating Maggie. After almost half an hour of sitting alone upstairs, Connor's girlfriend came down. "Is everything alright, Connor?" She asked.
"I think my daughter is dead, Maria. She isn't waking up, but her heart rate is slowing down."
Maria looked at Maggie, seeing she wasn't moving, and she turned her head away from the sight.
"Heh, we don't need her. We can make our own kids, Connor, believe me." She said, trying to sound flirty.
Connor got up and took Maria upstairs, but he had Maggie on his mind, was hoping she was still alive.
As soon as Maria left, Connor trudged downstairs and saw Maggie sitting there, still motionless. He put his hand on her heart and felt her heartbeat, slower than it had been before. He tried opening her eyes but it didn't work.
After an hour of trying, Maggie woke up, but she was very ill and had lost a lot of blood. "C . . Connor . . . why . . . did . . . you . . . do . . this . . . to . . . me . . .?" she asked weakly.
"Hush, don't talk, you need medical attention." Connor untied her and took her back to the hospital for medical attention.
When they got there, a doctor took her back to the emergency room.
For two hours Connor sat in the waiting room to see if Maggie would survive, along with the baby.
At around 11:39 PM, a doctor came out, "Maggie is having trouble breathing but she's going to be okay, along with her baby." He said to Connor.
"Thank you, Doctor. May I go see her, please?" Connor asked.
The doctor nodded and took him back to the room.
When Connor approached her room, he saw the stitches on Maggie's neck. He looked at them for a long time, knowing he was making her suffer.
"Doctor, may I have some time with Maggie?" He asked.
The doctor nodded and left the room.
Connor walked over to Maggie's bed and leant down to kiss her forehead.
Maggie's eyes opened and she saw Connor standing beside her.
"C-Connor, where am I?" She asked weakly.
Connor rubbed her head and told her she was in the hospital, "Maggie, you're in the hospital, the cut on your neck made you bleed out and I had to get you here as soon as possible." He said.
Maggie looked around the room and eyed the blood package on the end table. She asked Connor something, "Connor, did you give blood to save me?"
Connor nodded and kissed her lips, then her cheek. He then soothes her to sleep.
Soon enough the doctor returned and injected the needle for the blood in her wrist so she had blood in her body again.
Connor kissed her hand goodbye and left the room to go home.
Maggie opened her eyes slightly and cried, not wanting him to leave.
